Would look for an alternative place to stay

The room was clean and tidy

When I arrived the doors to reception were locked, and despite knocking nobody answered. When I saw people in the window they drew the blinds and ignored me. It turned out these people were staff!!

Amazing place to stay.. good food at the restaurant.

Room was very clean and tidy.. very nice location on the way from Edinburgh to the Highlands. The restaurant on Christmas eve had an amazing vibe and served delicious dinner (prior reservation is recommended).

Only stayed one night. It’s was a comfortable stay. Plenty parking - Petrol station just across the road. Would recommen

Clean, warm, spacious room. Tea,coffee etc. decent quality of facilities. Good shower however the shower soap dispenser had been knockoff the wall but not an issue. Breakfast (included). Excellent. Very nice and plenty on the plate. Also cereal, toast tea& coffe etc.

NOTE. The reception is in the pub/restaraunt which is across the road so don’t do as we did, we carried our luggage to the reception then we’re told the rooms were in another building across the road. Small omission not a problem but would have been nice to have been informed of this beforehand.

Good location, friendly staff, and tasty breakfast, for a fair price.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the choice at breakfast was huge and very tasty, and the bed was very comfortable.

I couldn’t get the heating in my room to produce any heat, so the room was a bit cold. The hairdryer in my room didn’t work.

If you are visiting Stirling/Central Scotland in, the Highland Gate is a great budget base to stay

Room was very clean, 2 large spare pillows & a extra blanket if needed (it wasn't needed as I had put the heating up & was very comfortable when very cold outside). A large bathroom with bath & attached shower, with enough towels for 2 people on a single occupancy. Tea/coffee in room, with the restaurant/pub 50 metres away. Excellent breakfast which was included in the room rate, as good as I have had in very expensive 4 & 5 star hotels - cereals, fresh fruit, range of fruit juices, bread for toast, pastries - pain au chocolate & croissants, yoghurts & of course an included full English breakfast. I will use this hotel as it is really convenient for Stirling, close to the motorway, Stirling city centre 3 miles & at a really good price with great breakfast.

Nothing to not like, staff were very pleasant & helpful, every door (including entry to the accommodation was opened was through the card key.

A shame our unfortunate start prevented a perfect stay.

We were initially given the incorrect key to another occupants room! Not the best start and quite a security worry! New key sorted after a trip back to reception. Room was clean and well set up for our family. Nice and warm and comfortable. One window would not close but didnt affect our stay. Breakfast was fabulous and definitely worth booking as part of your stay. All staff were supper friendly and helpful. A shame our unfortunate start prevented a perfect stay.

A comfortable, welcoming stay in a great location with excellent food and fantastic value.

We really loved the location, and the food in the pub was fantastic. The room had everything we needed, the staff were great, and it was excellent value for the money. I would highly recommend staying here.

Comfortable stay for one night

The hotel was clean, loved the bed (firm enough lol important to me!), great pillows, clean bathroom. It essentially had everything you would need and want for a one night stay. Location is fairly quiet and doesn't have much around but I'd assume you'll have a car if you're here.

Not a fan of the lack of stairs though I understand this to be a fairly common issue - my partner and I had to carry our heavy suitcases up several flights of stairs and roll them on carpeted floors so that wasn't a pleasant experience. I figure you'll get a first floor room if you book earlier (which we did not).

Good basic overnight stop, with a really good dinner.

Restaurant and bar staff were excellent, and dinner was superb. The location, just off the motorway was perfect (en route from Galloway to Aberdeen). Room was OK - equivalent to a Travel Lodge. Breakfast was basic but OK.
