Wellness Penzión Ferrata

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ this hotel exceeded my expectations. It’s literally in the forest — absolutely amazing. All the staff were smiling all the time, very friendly and welcoming and we let a few of them. This is honestly quite rare at least compared to my experience in Slovakia. I travel a lot across Europe and the UK as an architect, and this hotel can easily compete with some of the Austrian family hotels in the Alps. There were just a couple of small downsides: a slightly noisy fridge and the buns on Sunday weren’t very fresh — even though it would be easy to warm up frozen ones in the oven. But overall, I’m giving it 5 stars because the food was really great, and the staff even disconnected the fridge without any hesitation. Thank you guys for a great stay!

Restaurant was only opened till 20:30.

But it is EUR 7 / 2.5 hours, which is much more reasonable. A la carte food in the restaurant was good and the waiter was very nice.

Staff made their job harder for themselves than necessary. They should think of optimizing their workflows. Examples: Though cold lemonade in the wellness was a nice treat, the staff would constantly replace cups and refill the dispenser. Like all the time. Or at breakfast - instead of providing a heated tray full of scrambled eggs, one had to order, which took time and extra effort. Some indoor places were too small, like where buffet breakfast was served. Breakfast could be richer, but it's okay for the price. No elevator. No problem for me, but could be for some. Our room faced the forest, so the view wasn't great, just acceptable. We were given only one access card for our room.

The room was clean and the sheets were fresh, which I appreciated. One small but nice touch: the air conditioning had a pleasant scent throughout the hotel.

Wellness area comes at an extra charge of €7.50 per person. Unfortunately, the mint sauna was out of order during our stay. Massage prices are quite high – €35 for just 30 minutes. As for the restaurant, the food was well presented and tasted fine. However, the burgers on the menu didn’t really match the hotel’s theme, and there was a lack of local or wild meat options, or traditional slovak food, which would have been more fitting. Be aware that the restaurant closes early – after 9 PM, you won’t get anything to eat, which was a bit frustrating.
