Solar Sampaio e Melo

We were welcomed by Ricardo: very informative and welcoming. The hotel is lovely. It has been beautifully restored and furnished. The hotel has an interesting history which is documented in the information book in the bedroom. Very good quality towels and bed linen and a lovely shower room. The hot el states that there is no parking but there is ample parking on the square in front of the hotel. We were travelling by motorbike and Ricardo allowed us to park in the gardens to the rear of the hotel. Perfect!

Beware Sunday's!!!! Reataurants are closed but there is a very charming cafe opposite the hotel which was open and served a superb toasted sandwich.

En pleno centro, ascensor, casa exquisitamente decorada con antiguedades, tranquilo, bien atendido, salones y estancias señoriales, toallas y sábanas de altísima calidad. Baño diseño moderno.

El café malísimo, el baño no tenía ningún espacio para dejar enseres personales

The location is so lovely, right in the middle of the town overlooking the town square. The breakfast was delicious and the staff serving breakfasts were super helpful and friendly. The communal rooms were comfortable and homely. The place was very clean. The pool was a great bonus.

Our first room was very quirky, on 2 floors, with windows that opened to the main corridor and a dormer window above the bed that didn't open. Although there was very good air con, personally we found the room suffocating as we felt we needed fresh air. Riccardo the manager kindly changed our rooms for the 2nd night and we had a lovely spacious room with a big bed overlooking the town square.
