Quinta do Quinto

The views and the big terrace were wonderful. Loved the peace and quiet. I think we had the best breakfast ever with fresh produce from the farm, homemade pastries and fresh eggs. Amazing!

The room was a bit smaller than expected and the pool was not useable/ not cleaned.

A very enjoyable, relaxing stay (my third time staying here). Beautiful property set in quiet, picturesque valley. Delicious breakfast, comfortable rooms and super friendly staff. Highly recommended.

The location and building are beautiful. There is a large common area with comfortable couches and breakfast in the morning was probably the best we had during out 5 weeks in Portugal and Madeira. We had no issues whatsoever with this part of our stay - we had many issues with our room however (Room 8 at the end of the hall on the left).

The building is completely self-check in with all communication via WhatsApp. When we were in I went in search of someone who could give me some ice for my wine. The TV was on in the common area so I called out in the bar, dining room, kitchen, back porch, and outside. We were the only ones there and we felt a bit like we were being watched. It was creepy. Our room (#8) was so tiny the door barely cleared the bed with no room for a bedside table and barely room anywhere for our carry-on sized bags. There was nowhere to sit so we took our wine to the common area. Definitely the t At bedtime we realized the advertised A/C didn't work. Our room was quite hot. We prefer fresh air but there were just two thin wispy mismatched curtains so no way to block the light in the morning. The curtain rod was atilt, pulled from the wall on one side. I messaged the manager and was told the AC would not work. At 12:30 am a loud alarm sounded on the unit and woke us up again. The code said it was updating the software. I messaged the manager again to express my anger. We woke at first light (window necessarily open), tried to shower but the standpipe leaked so badly little water came from the spray nozzle. We decided to make coffee, mistakenly thinking there were coffee packets in the basket with the tea bags and plugged the kettle in on the floor in the corner (the only place there was a socket and a flat surface). When we unplugged the kettle the socket pulled right out of the wall exposing the wires. I spoke to the manager who came over to our breakfast table to explain that the AC was not on but is not individually controllable when it is! She said she had been in the building until 9:30 pm. Where??? Why the WhatsApp communication only then??Clearly there is no desire on the part of management to engage with guests and the result was an inhospitable stay in a sterile building instead of a warm, welcoming ambiance in a beautiful old Quinta. What a shame.
