Shorefield, Bruichladdich

This house is a lovely, comfortable and charming home, without being luxurious. The location was fantastic right on the loch and we loved being able to explore easily from there.

We loved the property and the story behind it, although it could now use a little updating. Having said that everything worked well and we had a very comfortable time in a warm and welcoming, old fashioned home.

Shorefield ist wunderschön gelegen mit toller Aussicht aufs Wasser. Die Unterkunft selbst ist geräumig und hat Historie. Man lernt viel über die ehemaligen Besitzer und die Einrichtung sowie die Bilder an der Wand versprühen Charme

Die Unterkunft liegt etwas abseits, so dass man auf ein Auto angewiesen ist, Fussläufig gibt es einen Minimarket in Bruichladdich und in 30 min Entfernung das Port Charlotte Hotel nebst Restaurant/Pub. Ein schmaler Gehweg führt neben der Hauptstr. dorthin. Die Toilettenspülung im Erdgeschoß war defekt und konnte erst mit Hilfe des Vermeiters und einem Workaround betrieben werden. Hier sollte eine Reparatur durchgeführt werden.

We had a great stay. The Cottage is lovely and the perfect base to explore Islay, whether in general or during the Feis. It's close to a bus stop, to Bruichladdich and Port Charlotte you can walk, and there's also no hassle for the Taxis to get one there. The communication always worked very well, to any of our questions we got a fast and kind reply. Everything was spotlessly clean, the showers working with no issues at all, and for us personally the missing dishwasher was no issue. And waking up to see the Loch right out of the bedroom window - what a treat!
