The room itself was nice enough.

Firstly, there was no one on the front desk for most of the stay, so we couldn't check in or even safely leave our bags until late in the afternoon. Secondly, there's a building site right outside our room, so it was noisy and any thoughts of using the balcony were gone. Not that the balcony would have been of much use as the location is terrible. It's not close enough to the town for easy access, but it's not remote enough to be peaceful. On our last morning the host started bombarding us with messages at around 10am, telling us that check out was at 11, asking if we were still in our room, telling us to leave our key on the front desk when we check out, apologizing about the noise other guests were making, etc. I just wanted to be left alone. I know that check out is at 11. I understand how hotels work. They clearly don't.
