Nice stay in a lovely old pub.

Location was good and the room was nice. The bar area was comfortable and staff were friendly and helpful in the bar. Breakfast was not great - the eggs were beautifully cooked but the presentation was awful. Eating bacon and egg on toast out of a bowl was unusual and not easy.

The hotel is comfy. Wifi works well, and the rooms are well-isolated

The first thing that i think is UNACCEPTABLE is the fact that i requested for an invoice 3 times, and I still haven't received one. It feels just "dodgy". Then, i had to pay for coffee at breakfast (breakfast was included in my reservation) because... i don't know. So, all in all, the hotel is not "bad", but i doubt I will stay there again.

Stayed before always normally happy with everything

Had an air conditioning unit that was faulty and loud. Kept us both awake most of the night. Told the staff next day and even played time stamped recording. Had no further response. Disappointed.

Best location for hiking in the lower Peaks

Nice and bright pub. Mix grill was amazing, just what I needed after a long hike. Big rooms, beds, TV, bathroom with both bath and shower. Kettle. Breakfast was really nice to. Great location for hiking locations such as Crich, Lea bridge, Cromford canal, Cromford and Matlock bath, and the start of the Peak district.

A gem of a find.

What a beautiful place. I was amazed to find a sofa for relaxing in my room. The staff were all really friendly and my emails were answered quickly and efficiently. As a bonus (which didn't have a benefit to me) they let the village cars park there when dropping off their kids at the local school, which is a lovely touch.

Some staff very helpful and obliging, I liked the ‘refresh’ just needs an eye on a few things.

Good room renovations. The number for room service as per the book is not correct. There was no one in reception to take any order. I had to go down to the bar to order and they confirmed there is never anyone there to pick up.

The mattress s need changing .. the springs are all gone such a shame bedroom was nice otherwise . It really let the room down. The breakfast delivery was poor. The waitress had a poor attitude but the orders took forever because the kitchen couldn’t cope with the two large parties and everyone down at the same time. Poor planning as the numbers would have been known in advance.

I’ve stayed before so knew the location was good and the cleanliness is great. The food is good and the pub is a nice place.

Although the TV is a smart TV the pub don’t have any apps set up so you can’t watch anything on Netflix for example.

Great spot to stay and explore the dales

Really nice, modern, clean, well-equipped room. Nice bar and restaurant. Decent location near Matlock to explore the dales.

Very nice breakfast food, but very little things like making tea from a flask of not-hot-enough water, shortage of glasses, silly toast arrangement on the plate, no side plate, made it NEARLY perfect. Staff seemed a bit over-run at times on bank holiday weekend. WiFi was too slow for streaming on the TV. These are all minor gripes because our stay was really comfortable and fun, but with a few tweaks, this place could be really excellent.

Just an overnight stop...

Plenty of parking. Very clean. Large room. Excellent breakfast. Staff all very obliging. Air conditioning always a bonus in the UK!

Description of bed size is incorrect on Booking.com. It advertised the bed in our grade of room as 'extra large double' (i.e. Superking) but it wasn't. This was one of the main reasons we booked here. The manager said he would report this and get it corrected. It IS correct on their own website.
