The place is very quiet and private

The price, the location, security. It is hard to find a better place, especially at this price point. I have stayed in a lot of places in Alajuela. Once I found Maria’s apartments I never went anywhere else. I have stayed here 5 or 6 times now.

The curtain in the bedroom does not fully cover the window

We loved the west facing terrace! The kitchen had enough equipment to make all our at home meals easily. Plenty of space for 2 people with lots of windows for airflow. linens and towels were good quality and the queen bed was very comfortable.

The upper bedroom was not really accessible for us due to the very steep stairs/ladder. Fortunately, we didn't require its use.

This no-thrills appartment is well located, just a few hundred steps outside the city center and in walking distance of bus stops, churches and supermarkets. We wanted to use it as a basis for different trips on the region and for the usual household basics (washing, ironing clothes, preparing breakfast). It is well distributed between a kitchen/sofa space, a bed room with a few hangers, a shower with toilet as well as a laundry-drying room, with a sink and mirror between the two. Both main spaces have fans on the ceiling.

I can only speak about our ground floor appartment and experience over about a week. Above all, the non-responsive owner was disappointing. The appartment has seen better days and requires better maintenance (stinky towels should not happen, and were quickly replaced by the friendly on-site assistant, we did not bother to report other things such as light bulbs that need replacement or the loudest fridge between Mexico and Chile). We did report that the washing machine was not rinsing, but leaving detergent strains on our clothes, we also told Maria via booking that the remote control in the sofa-kitchen space did not work and we therefore could not watch TV there (while the 2nd TV, in the bed room, had a half-broken remote control), and finally we informed her about cockroaches in the parking space just outside our ground floor appartment - her reaction was radio silence, even after a written reminder. Booking tried to mediate, but still, the owner did not reply to us.
