Luxery Cottage in a very nice and relaxing surroundings

The owner of the property welcomed us and we liked the area directly. A very nice looking Domaine with several cottages on the premises. Our was directly at the entrance and we felt in love by seeing it. The cottage was exactly decorated as on the pictures, was very clean and bathrooms were like at home with all the luxury. Kitchen was also well equipped. In the front of our cottage we took our breakfast and in the garden we could sit in the evening and drink a glass of wine. The village is on a walking distance and is very nice with the Chateau in the middle. The area is suitable to visit the many Chateaux's in the area and we also played golf and did some bicycle tours. We enjoyed our 7 nights stay very much and would recommend this Domaine to anybody who is looking for a great holiday.

Wifi was disappointed, furthermore the owner wanted a copy of our insurance policy, a Eur 1.500,-- disposit and asked Eur 120,-- for cleaning. We cleaned the cottage ourself and disposit was returned directly after we left. Just that you are not surprised and donot forget to read the small letters! Nevertheless the stay was great and we enjoyed our week holiday very much.

Wifi wasn't great, and although the pool was fine for us, it might have been a bit on the small side if other accommodation in the grounds had been full.

Lovely Loire Valley rental stay.

François was super welcoming host, nothing too much trouble and super responsive when the WiFi and coffee machine went down. The Chateau, cottage and grounds are stunning and well maintained.

Not sure how deep a clean the cottage had received when looking behind the sofa for lost lego!

Unhygienic accommodation with an arrogant and rude owner. Beware!

The location was good but that’s about it.

The house was very dirty -cobwebs everywhere. The cushions had pet hair and it seems had not been washed in years. The bed spreads were equally dirty with white crusty stains. When we pointed this out to the owner- he said that it was a luxury property and not a hotel and he doesn’t have staff for two days as it’s the weekend. When I sent him pictures- he sent someone two days later for half an hour and early in the morning when we were still sleeping. Afraid that we will complain to booking- he asked us to leave and said that he will refund all our money. So we took that offer to leave that unhygienic accommodation but then he never returned the money he promised and in fact charged us for an extra day. We are still trying to work with booking.com to get that money back. In addition- the owner was extremely arrogant and rude. He even screamed at my children. In twenty years of travelling through France - I should have known not to book a place that is available last minute and with so few reviews on VRBO and booking. Really spoilt our stay in Loire valley and left a bad taste and impression about a country we love.

Excellent and we will return

A delightful location and a beautifully decorated house. Very comfortable and well proportioned for 4 people with excellent amenities. A short 10 minute walk to the centre of Azay-le-Rideau and very good restaurants. Great base for sightseeing. We will certainly return. Francois and Sophie are lovely and nothing was too much trouble.

Stay in domaine at azay le rideau

Azay le ridea and surrounding countryside lovely, very well placed for chateaux and not too far from vineyards. Exceptionally clean Gardening and cleaning team very helpful and thoughtful. Some luxury eg bath

We felt the proprietor could have been more welcoming and helpful. We had the feeling from the outset that he had little time for us as clients. There were a lot of rules that made us feel ill at ease, especially on the day of departure. Front of property was well maintained but back garden and balcony very shaded by trees and needed attention in our view, very hard to find sunny areas. Pool seemed small with only 50% occupancy and overall the property lacked the luxury and attention to detail we expected from the photos shown

Wonderful stay

We really enjoyed the peace and quiet of this beautiful place. Everything has been thought of and the owners are such lovely people who really care about what they are doing. The cottages are very well set up with all amenities inside. We both really enjoyed our time and will be back!

Comfortable nice location in Castle area

It was a very pleasant location close to various castles we visited from 10min. to 60min. driving. The village is on walking distance with several restaurants and a castle. The property itself is quite and has a good atmosphere, and free parking. The apartment was comfortable nicely decorated and spacious for a family of four. It is well equipped with eg. dolce gusto coffee machine, dishwasher, wash machine and dryer. Beds are comfortable as well. Separate kitchen with bar and nice living and patio garden with loungeset. We would definitely recommend this property as a base from where you visit castles in the area. All good for week stay.

It could be a slight improvement to have clearer/oral info (in English) on waste disposal. It is good to separate, but you need to dispose all yourself different locations. Glass you need to bring in the village. In Netherlands we are more used to pay electronically (by card) from tourists tax to deposit. Above are suggestions to make the stay even more convenient and get a 10.

Beautiful setting with luxurious accomodation in a historic domaine.

The location was exceptional both for access to the lovely town of Azay and its restaurants (by foot) but also for the fantastic views and sunsets from our outdoor space. Beautifully refurbished but also with huge character - the troglodyte laundry service, the historic buildings, the amazing grounds. Francois was very friendly and informative - available in the office or by phone but discreet. He gave us a great vineyard recommendation in an area we thought we knew well.
