Spacious apartment with lots of beautiful views. Lovely and clean. Great location from the harbour. So lovely and quiet, we feel reset and recharged. The host’s communication was great.

The host and his representative on the island were very responsive and friendly. The apartment is in a historic place with an interesting past and surely is a one-of-a-kind experience. The view from the kitchen to the islands landscape, Għajnsielem and Nadur are interesting, but it’s not the view we expected. First it was advertised with sea view, you will see only a slice of Mgarr Harbour through a slot between the buildings and a little bit of the sea horizon over the rooftops. You will not se Malta, and not even Comino. The apartment is as far away from the direct Seaview as possible. So, if you want an appartement where you can chill and enjoy the view of Comino or Malta, this isn’t it. The only real positive experience in that stay was the interaction with the owner and his representative.

The term luxury apartment is a huge overstatement. The basic furniture has seen its best days some 15 to 20 years ago; the main bed and the two single beds have plyboards as bases for the mattrasses that also were too soft to be put directly on the plyboards. The second double bed had an mattrass you could feel every single spring in it. The bed sheets, pillows and bedcovers were well used and far from being luxurious. The bathroom and the shower were not as clean as they should be. Both bathrooms have signs of mold in the angles and verdigris on the shower installation. Overall cleanliness doesn’t reflect the luxury terms either, the appartement was rather dusty, the kitchen was greasy and none of the windows clean. The worst was the fridge and the oven in the kitchen. The host sent his representative to correct this, but also after the intervention no trace of luxury. The silverware, the dishes and the pans are at bare minimum and old and well used. There is no coffee machine, not even a Bialetti coffee maker. If you want coffee, you must use hot water and instant coffee. Is this luxurious? The balcony on the second floor has some kind of sun protection made of some kind of rope, but don’t expect shade. The roof terrace has no provision to provide sun protection. The conclusion, the rent doesn’t reflect the value of that appartement, the wording of the offering is misleading and that location is by no mean luxurious. If this appartement is declared as, was it is, a simple apartment in a historic place and rented for an appropriate price everything could be acceptable. But selling an apartment with only basic appliances, uncomfortable old beds, basic bed sheets and pillows, an old couch and questionable cleanliness as luxurious, is not acceptable. So, if you’re looking for an interesting location in an historic building and you’re o.k. with overpaying that, go for it. But if you are looking for a luxury apartment, stay at large and look for other options.
