Kalunay Hostel - Breakfast included

We lived in the private room with shower and toilet. Everything was fine. We got a breakfast. The price and quality’s is good. It’s about 5 min from beach to walk.

There were another guests who was a little bit noisy at night.

Great hostel, we loved the outdoor kitchen with so much space and equipment! Staff was great and breakfasts were also nice addition. Good location as it was so quiet- not by the main road and bars.

Damp smell in the room

The garden with lounge chairs is nice. Because you are at the edge of town we saw lots of howler monkeys in the trees surrounding the hostel. Its nice that there is free filtered water.

The room was very humid (which is understandable in costa rica), however there was mold on the walls, on the bed sheets and on the fan. There are no shelves or hooks to put/hang your stuff, so it's on the humid floor.. The shared bathroom was dated and became very dirty, since you have to share it with the dorm and one other double room. It was not cleaned regularly. They serve breakfast from 7, however, we never received it before 8 (so keep that in mind when you are in a rush). The breakfast is fine, but basic and the same every morning, scrambled eggs, toast and a piece of fruit. The location is at the edge of town, which is fine, but you have to walk some dark streets to get there.
