Good Karma Yogyakarta

Great location. I like that it's not too far from the kraton and other tourist attractions. Plus, the reason why I chose this over other hostels was the fact that unlike other dorm rooms, the one at this hostel comes with 4 single beds so it's great that I don't have to stress over being at the top or bottom bunk. It's also good that the toilet and bathroom are inside the dormitory so I didn't have to go out of my room to use them. Okky, the guy who manages the hostel is an incredible host. The cleaning lady was really kind and sweet. Other travellers staying there are friendly and have good vibes.

They provided towels for all guests but I was not comfortable with the one I got because it smelled funny so perhaps the staff can use more detergent for washing the towels and sheets. Luckily I brought my own towel so I just used mine. The bathroom floor clogged so quickly with hair and suds so that needs constant cleaning. The blankets provided were not actually blankets - they were merely scarves so I hope the hostel provides proper blankets in the future because it gets really cold later at night especially with the air conditioning

Quiet area yet within walking distance to places to eat.. squeaky clean even though it’s originally an old house, good hot water pressure.

The cleanest hostel I stayed at during my trip through Indonesia! The atmosphere is fantastic, and the staff are incredibly welcoming. Oky makes everyone feel at home and is always happy to help with recommendations for things to do in Yogyakarta. Cooking together, sharing a beer, and relaxing in the common area felt like hanging out with old friends. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Yogyakarta.

The smell of the bed sheets.

The pictures are too attractive compared to reality... The location is quite difficult to find, on winding streets, not on the street. The owner is a little distant. The welcome was not very warm. I went to eat something in town, took a shower and got ready for bed. The room was small, without windows, the air conditioning was to be left on overnight, little louder and there was no way to sleep in these conditions, except with a hat and a duvet. The bathroom, there is something to say here, very strange... Half of it had a roof, half didn't... If it was raining, there was no point in using the shower because you were being showered by God. The toilet was stained from the rain or something like that, I could see into the room between the boards behind the toilet, so all kinds of insects could get in on you. On the arrival here, I saw many small lizards crawling on the walls so i had only this picture in my mind since then...The bed was not at all comfortable, but the linen smelled nice. I felt totally uncomfortable sleeping even one night here or using the toilet in hygienic conditions being outside without a roof, so I chose to leave and look for another accommodation, especially when I heard the noise of other guests near my door, noise that I had to endure all night. At 8:30 pm I looked for another accommodation and left, without much explanation and without asking for my money back. It was my choice to leave, or to sleep in such conditions. I only recommend it in case of force majeure, and in the absence of anything else.
