Room was amazing, pool was amazing

We stayed at the Wyndham prior to our Ha Long Bay tour which left early in the morning. Our room was fantastic with views of the bay and the bridge! It was a huge room with very large bathroom and very comfortable beds. There are a few close by coffee shops which were an easy walk.

The stunning views. Great sound proofing. Clean. Professional and courteous staff Nice gym and pool!

This is advertised as a five star hotel, but it's far from it. A few things that I would highlight: - one of our rooms looked over a derelict building - the rooms have dark wood doors and furniture- there were hand/fingerprints all over them, so although the room and bathroom looked clean, the woodwork really needed a deep clean - our room had a damp smell - we had a Balcony, but no patio furniture to use on the balcony - the glass panel on the balcony was wobbly and clearly poorly fitted - the pool has been finished to a poor standard with tiles coming lose and looked poorly maintained. Getting a drink around the pool took a really long time as next to no staff. - we chose the hotel because of what the gym looked like, but in reality it was poorly fitted out and there wasn't any air conditioning so our son couldn't use it - the location of the hotel wasn't great....the area around it is run down with broken patios and absolutely nothing in walking distance. There wasn't even a supermarket close by or any restaurants that you would want to eat in.
