A very pleasant stay

Butt Lodge is in a secluded part of Lochranza with lots of trees and land popular with red squirrels and deer which were exciting to see. Our hosts (who are soon to retire) were friendly and informative about the area. Our room had a very comfortable bed (which enabled us to sleep very well) and was equipped with a good TV. The food on offer was very good and we enjoyed our cooked breakfast and the evening meal we signed up for. Overall we were very pleased we chose Butt Lodge for our two night stay on Arran.

Our room was rather cold - thankfully we had a heated towel rail in the bathroom.

Fabulous in every way 😀

Everything! The location is gorgeous, directly behind Lochranza golf course, with red deer grazing, Cath & Mac are the best hosts you could wish for, nothing is too much trouble and Mac’s breakfasts and dinner are absolutely delicious!

Only that Cath and Mac are retiring from the business soon and we won’t be able to repeat visit with them at the helm, but wish them both a well deserved and happy retirement!

Wonderful, peaceful and comfortable place to stay with great hosts and a fantastic breakfast

Beautiful location with deer on the fields outside, so peaceful and quiet. Breakfast was absolutely amazing, the room was really clean and comfortable with all the amenities you could want. Wonderful owners, really friendly and helpful even though we had a really late check in due to delays from the ferry. Cath gave us a great taxi recommendation as the buses weren't very regular. Very tasty dinner option here too!

The hot water in the shower was a bit temperamental and wasn't consistently hot. For the add-on dinner option the serving sizes are delicious but quite small, we had come back from a busy and active day and could have eaten more, it was quite expensive for the portion size. We had to ask for more bread which we got charged extra for...

Relaxing stay at fabulous accommodation on a beautiful island.

Accommodation was first rate, comfortable beds, clean, excellent breakfasts and evening meals. The location was also first rate, lovely views across a small golf course to the mountains beyond, a visiting herd of deer each day and a short walk to the village pub. Hosts Cath and Mac were welcoming and made us feel completely at home.

Wonderful Scottish experience

The fantastic scenery, the evening meal was superb, breakfast was great and we loved the resident cat 😺

We arrived without a car and in hindsight we should have had one as it restricts moving around the island as buses are there but not always running to an amenable timetable

Wonderful, peaceful stay at Butt Lodge with fantastic hosts

We had a fantastic stay at Butt Lodge. Cath and Mac were fantastic hosts who were always on hand if we needed anything. The room was very clean and comfortable and the bathroom was very modern with lovely Arran Aromatic toiletries. Breakfast was great and we were made to feel very welcome. The surrounding to the property were just breathtaking and so peaceful.

Fabulous stay

Beautiful peaceful location , many walks from the property . We had a lovely room , very clean and comfortable with quality toiletries and hospitality tray , fresh milk daily . Kath and Mac were very welcoming snd hospitable, we were well looked after . Breakfast was excellent and we were fortunate to be able to have our evening meal there in one night of our stay . It was superb , made with locally sourced ingredients. Mac is a very good chef .

Location was spectacular. Entrance a bit hair raising as down a steep track, but we had been warned about this by the hosts. Hosts very welcoming and accommodating.

Only problem was a very tight shower as my partner is a larger gentleman. It was a little snug even for me. Difficult to pick up the soap if you dropped it. Lovely Arran aromatics in the bathroom.
