Smartr Madrid Chueca

Location & cleanliness

The location of the apartment is excellent. Entry was easy and the apartment felt secure. Chueca is our favourite area to stay in because it's so central to everything but doesn't carry the high cost of staying on Gran Via. The apartment looked exactly as I had expected and was a great base for us. There were plenty of bars and restaurants, and the selection of cuisines to choose from is great. We do like to go Spanish though, I would recommend a visit to Mercado San Miguel and also la casa del abuelo for Gambas Al ajillo. Madrid may just be my second favourite place on earth after my home!

There is noise from the bars down on the street, but Madrid is a lively city and noise is to be expected. The pillows are a little hard and it would be nice to have the option of a softer pillow. The living area is small but the bedrooms are well proportioned. We don't really use the kitchen but it had the equipment we would expect (although we did have to buy a corkscrew which we left for the next guests).

The location of the property was great, infact it was the only good thing bout the property. I would say the host was courteous and quite responsive however the overall upkeep of the apartment was below par

First the A/c’s were not serviced for long. When we switched it on the room got filled with Dust bunnies blowing out of the air-conditioner. There was a dirty and broken kettle for heating water, which we cudnt use. Tried using microwave instead which had a weird smell. The bed linen were not dirty but had some stains here & there and we found a 2 insects in the bed. Overall the place was not value for money apart for its location and since we were only transiting in Madrid and had booked it for one night stay only we could manage with the place.
