Villetta con Giardino esclusivo di 1000 mq, Piscina, Tennis, Calcio, Bocce

We booked this little villa after seeing the photos on Booking.com. It looked absolutely stunning, so naturally our expectations were high… although experience has taught us to be cautious. We’ve been disappointed before, so our mindset had quietly shifted from “This looks amazing” to “How bad can it actually be?” 😅 From Ischia Port, Google Maps estimated about 40 minutes to reach the property. Sounds easy enough… until Google decided that the shortest route was obviously a much better idea than the most sensible one. 🤣 What followed was an unforgettable driving experience. Tiny roads barely the width of our rental car, mirrors folded in, stone walls on one side, branches scratching the other, and five passengers acting as professional spotters trying to prevent me from returning the car with a new “Ischia souvenir”. 😂 Two-way roads, by the way. Which means that if another car, scooter, Ape 50, bicycle… or even a horse had appeared from the opposite direction, we’d probably still be there negotiating who should reverse first. After almost an hour we finally arrived, where Teresa greeted us with a smile and immediately explained that Google had sent us through the internal roads instead of the much wider and easier Via Provinciale. The following day we realised she was absolutely right… but hey, we were tourists. How were we supposed to know? 😄 The villa itself looked exactly like the photos. Beautiful outside, lovely garden, peaceful surroundings… everything very well maintained. The only surprise was the swimming pool. We had understood from the description that it belonged to the villa, but in reality it is a shared pool for the small residence of around ten charming villas. Also, access is officially limited to 10:00–13:00 and 17:00–19:00. We hadn’t realised that before arriving. Fortunately, nobody minded when we stayed a little longer, as long as we respected the quiet atmosphere. Inside, the living room was comfortable, bright and pleasantly cool.

Posto molto bello , tranquillo con parcheggio privato. Casa grande e giardino ampio. Cucina datata ma con tutto il necessario. Noi torneremo di sicuro. Per chi come noi, ama muoversi in libertà, consigliamo auto perché non vicinissima al centro. Teresa, la Sigra che ci accolto, è stata molto gentile, non invadente e disponibile x qualsiasi informazione.

Beds could be more comfortable

The location was a long way from amenities but the views from the pool area were beautiful. The pool area was lovely and well kept, as was our lovely garden. The main living area was clean, spacious and comfortable. The workman who was on hand to help with hot water and blocked drains was very lovely. He spoke no English but was super friendly and helpful. And the lady who helped us on arrival and various booking was also helpful.

The bathrooms were shockingly bad. Th main bathroom was so small that the door would not open as it jammed up against the sink meaning you had to close the door to reach one side of the bathroom. There was a rust stained bath with no enamel and a shower hose which could only be used in the bath so no possibility of a standing shower in either bathroom. The baths were tiny so everything got soaked if you even attempted to use the hose. Emersion heaters hung over the baths and huge clumps of hair needed to be removed from the plug which had been blocked from arrival. In the en suite, the taps leaked constantly and the plumbing was so shot that you could smell urine from your bed. The beds were shocking with ancient mattresses and everyone suffering crippling back aches as a result. My poor mums room was the worst. There was no hanging space for her dresses, and cupboards were packed to the hilt with old blankets and other belongings. None of the bedrooms had overhead lights, just a standing lamp in each room. No bedside lights at all. I don’t know how to recommend overall because we made the best of it and had a lovely time there. I just can’t understand how there was such a huge departure between the well kept grounds and the state of the beds and bathrooms. If it weren’t for those, I’d recommend highly. Shame really.
