Out of all of the dorm rooms I stayed in Japan, Kagelow had the biggest, cleanest, and quietest bed. A lovely 10 minute walk away from the station with a view of Mt. Fuji right outside, this is the perfect starting point for your Fuji excursion. Overall, if I find myself in the area and catch Mt. Fuji on a day with perfect visibility once again, I would come back here.
No elevators for big luggage - but you're free to leave them downstairs. The walk going there can be bumpy with your luggage, but it was manageable. It's best to travel light when you go anywhere in Japan anyway. I didn't really mind the guests from the restaurant downstairs which is only really open during dinner. Just be patient when the staff are accommodating restaurant guests as well.

Good location, international chill vibes.
i would have people take off their shoes like you do everywhere un Japan, before entering the place.
Maybe offer some help for example in case a person is disrupting other peoples sleep by snoring or making other noise that cant be covered by wearing earplugs.

Convenient location, close to the main station. Bed was comfortable, room was spacious and clean.
This has nothing to do with the property per se, but there were some people drinking and taliking loudly past midnight in the outside lounge, so disrespectful to other guests and neighbors.

Cool hostel, well placed, old building well preserved. It’s very clean. Soap, towel and toothbrush are provided, which is cool.
The fact it is in a old house…it makes noise. With the hostel concept with a lot of people who comes and go, it’s not the best idea. Also, in our room there was a window on the roof with no curtain…the light woke us up at 6.00am…
