Koukounari Rooms

This review refers to Koukounari 2, which is a different building than the one where the reception and swimming pool are. Location for proximity to restaurants and small beach. Apartment: Clean. Spacious kitchen and bedroom. Detergent and shower gel available. Daily room cleaning if desire, with fresh towels provided daily.

Compared to the central Koukounari, of much lesser quality, uncomfortable, lacking attention and care. Location: On all days but Sunday, noise from traffic (motorbikes, small delivery vehicles). Apartment entrance door is a sliding room door with simple key, no safety. Kitchen - no table, no chairs. Very limited space on countertop to prepare meal. Cooker/ stove hook has been placed the wrong way to fit, which means you bang your head when cooking or opening fridge if not careful. No salt or pepper provided; Sponge which was available was used. No kitchen towel, no paper provided. The only place to sit and eat is on the balcony. Bedroom: Lamp in bedroom (and on balcony) not working. Mattress was uncomfortable, wobbles like a ship in a storm when one person moves. Furniture in bedroom shows its age, closet door doesn't close well. Curtain was partly torn from hooks. A drawing stapled to a frame was the decoration. Bathroom: Shower floor very slippery when wet. Only one hook to hang four towels. An old and rusty metal stand below sink to place toothbrush etc, with a u-shaped opening to fit under sink, where items fall through. Shower handle shows age. Mirror is slanted so that it fits into space provided. Wifi not strong. Room cleaning too early, before 10 am. View, from first floor. Sea is visible (apartment advertised as having seaview) but from afar and only over several rooftops. Staff at reception: polite but not friendly. Will not help lift a suitcases, even when they see someone older and with a hand injury. Overall, the apartment is not worth about 75 Euro/ night.

The host was very accommodating and personable. He was excited to share information about the island and the Easter holiday. Every staff member I spoke to was warm and friendly. The rooms were recently updated, they were clean and comfortable. Overall a great experience, highly recommended.

Great apartment with partial sea view, clean, spacious and comfortable. Near everything in Skala and with all we needed for our stay. Very friendly members of staff. Highly recommended!

Close to mini-market, bakery. Affordable.

We have stayed at other properties of the same owner. This room was okay, but way below the standards that we encountered during our previous stays. The room (and especially the bathroom) really needs some renovation and restyling; the door is far from burglary-proof. The distance to the central unit, where breakfast is being served and where the reception, bar and pool are located, is quite large. We hope to be back soon, but definitely will then prefer a room in one of the other koukounari properties.
