The property is located at the very centre of Skala Sykamineas, just like the other few alternatives.
After having stayed in 3 other places in Skala Sykamineas in previous years and in many others in other parts of Lesvos, this was the first time we encountered fraud. This may sound harsh, but it was.
If you're looking for a place with a balcony and a view of the sea, please DO NOT fall for the room listed at Karagiannaki's. We were promised a room WITH a balcony and a view of the sea, which was what we were looking for. Out of 3 alternatives, we booked this room.
When we arrived at check in, we couldn't know whom to contact as there were 4 rooms but no reception whatsoever. Also, the room we booked was occupied. Once we managed to find someone, we were only given keys and allowed into the room. Unfortunately the lovely old lady didn't speak a single word of English and we couldn't ask why we were not given the room we were promised.
Upon contacting booking.com, the host first offered us check-out the next day and reimbursement of the rest of the week. I'm pretty sure Maria is already aware that there are less than 5 properties listed on booking.com com in Skala Sykamineas and is making very good use of this information during the peak of the season. Booking.com offered us booking in another place and having any extra costs covered, but there were no alternatives. So at the peak of the season, expecting some sea view and a balcony with some breeze, we were stuck with a smaller room without a balcony, plus facing the wall.
As check-out and checking in at another place was not possible due to lack of available rooms, after further e-mail exchanges, we wered offered cleaning service free of charge. That is very kind of you indeed Maria, but I don't think cleaning service is in any way a substitute for the use of a nice balcony and sea view for a whole week.
Finally, we were reimbursed 15%, which can ONLY be used in another booking.com booking. Why?
