Pensión Casa Vicente

We loved our stay at Casa Vicente. It is out of Tineo (8km) so you are off the Camino Primitivo route. But you can do a short 2.5km detour each way to get back on, (or in our case we got a lift with friends we met, or we could have got a taxi if tired) and then we detoured back onto the trail the following day. Apart from that, it was fantastic. The people were so friendly, room was clean with good bathroom with a mini bath with shower over and bidet. The evening meal was in the pricier side but truly excellent (wood fired grill) and very typical of the area. Plus the breakfast deserves a review of its own. They lay it out so you can help yourself at whatever time you want (no waiting for 8 of 9am etc) and was the biggest spread we’ve seen on the Camino.

Clean, budget rooms, in a rural setting. We discovered a welcoming separate, locals bar/pub across the road, and spent every evening chatting with the very friendly owner and her local patrons.

No sound proofing. You could clearly hear people in the bedrooms next door, and the breakfast room below from 5am onwards. The self service breakfast arrangements were not ideal for everybody. Only gluten free cornflakes were available for those of us who are intolerant to gluten, amongst the generous selection of sliced bread, cake, prewrapped muffins and other assorted packaged snacks, laid out the night before. Fresh fruit was also put out the night before, but the bananas were always taken first thing, and nobody was around to stock up. There was a surveillance camera monitoring the breakfast room every morning of our 4 nights stay. It’s a shame there wasn’t a member of staff to talk to about the shortage of gluten free food and fruit for people who got up for breakfast after 8am. Everything seemed to be prepackaged in plastic, and on two occasions at breakfast, I had to clear the tables myself of juice cartons, rubbish and crumbs left by previous guests, before I could sit down. Another argument to have someone on hand to clear up after the entitled people who don’t know how to, and to keep the breakfast room clean and tidy for everyone staying!

El trato de la chica fue detestable, tuvimos un accidente y extraviamos la llave, el pueblo estaba de fiestas y fuimos a ver unos amigos que hace mas de 20 años que mi marido no veía, llamamos al hotel para informar de esta situación (12 de la noche) nadie atendió al teléfono, después tuvimos que dormir en casa de estos amigos (repito estaba el pueblo que fiesta, casas llenas y dormimos donde pudimos) pagamos la noche de hotel, por su puesto! Luego al dia siguiente la señorita está nos atendió borde, después de una noche horrible, luego para rematar mi marido se cayó en la ducha y se hizo daño, ya que en la bañera/ducha no había antideslizantes, salimos 25 min tarde porque estuve curando a mi marido y verificando que no necesitará asistencia médica ya que debido a la caída se hizo daño en un dedo del pié, cuando salimos para informar que nos íbamos la chica nos reclamó que salíamos tarde y que ella había perdido tiempo, que por cierto, mientras curaba la herida del pié estuve llamando a recepción para avisarle (por móvil ya que no hay telefono directo con recepción) Encima nos dijo iros ya. Fue todo muy mal trato por su parte, pero bueno no he puesto una hoja de reclamaciones porque me interesaba más salir de alli que otra cosa. En fin no lo recomiendo porque no hay una buena atención con el cliente y más cuando tienes inconvenientes. Por lo menos que cambien de personal!
