Beautiful property by Douro River, owned and run by a sweet retired chem professor, Caesar. The two bedroom chalet was perfect for our family of 4. We booked the Experience #6, “Visit to the Estate, Wine Tasting, & Special Dinner.” The food and wine were phenomenal and the stories Caesar shared gave us a lot of insight to the politics of wine in Douro Valley, Portugal, and the EU.
Hubby got a little hangry as Caesar’s stories got a little long and dinner was delayed. Might want to have a light snack before the Estate Tour.

The host, Cesar, was a great host. He gave advice on the drive, dinner in town and was just a very pleasant person with whom to deal. He met us at the car and assisted in our getting our luggage up to the Quinta, since I have a knee problem and it is somewhat difficult to not only make it up the rocky path but to pull a suitcase at the same time. The view from the Terrance is extraordinary of the Douro valley and the river.
The only problem with this location is the fact it is located on the side of the river gorge so everything is uphill. This is a problem for one slightly handicapped as am I. It is fine so long as one takes their time in making it up.

We felt right at home at Quint de Marrocos. The owner, Cesar was a fabulous host as was the wine maker, Jose.

Very old unit at the back of the property. I would not recommend this property for more than 1 night’s stay. Facilities are old. Shared patio.
Facility needs an upgrade, especially the aircon systems. Very small shower.
