Panthalams Homestay

The location is excellent - 5 minutes by tuk tuk into town and the property has superb views. If you are lucky you may see a Sambar Deer in the ‘forest’ below the home stay or a family of Black Lingo monkeys in the trees outside. The owners are very helpful , requesting tuk tuks or arranging day tours. Breakfast was excellent with omelettes, toast & jam served along with tea & coffe. Panthalams is simple accommodation but its simplicity is beautiful. Please note there is no lift at the home stay.

The WiFi is very erratic and phone signal is poor.

The house is away from the center of the city in a quiet residential area., but getting there is a van was a bit difficult. The room sizes are good and bathrooms were clean and functional. Comfortable large beds. Would definitely recommend using the hammocks on the top floor, I fell asleep within minutes of lying down- blissful with the breeze. The host family is fantastic. Shakoor, his wife and daughter were very helpful and were warm to talk to. The breakfast and teas they offered very delicious and good value for money.

Location is a bit hard to get to through little streets in a van. No proper parking facility for the vehicle.

Great location in a quiet area of Kumily/Thekkady but walking distance to the main commercial area. 15mims walk to the Periyar park entrance. Amazing view of town and the forest from the balcony and rooftop. The bed was comfortable and the room was a good size. Run by a very friendly and helpful family who arranged my onward taxi transfer to Munro island.

The host was very helpful. There stay was for my parents and they were a bit sick during their stay and the host was very helpful and gave them medicines which helped them recover.

The original room was recently painted and had a very strong odor. Then the host gave another room which was very bad. There was no space at all. The bathroom height was very low that my father's head almost touched the roof. My mother has to jump to get off the bed as there was an almirah kept on the way. It was like a store room. The host should not have opened the booking for the original room if there was paint smell is my suggestion.
