Helwas Beach Resort

I cannot rate our stay highly enough we were literally a few steps from the beach, paje is a 40 min walk along the beach so easy to get to if you want more restaurants and bars Our room was lovely and the staff were all simply amazing and we will miss them all. The Karoke on a Tuesday was the best! As was the BBQ night honestly so glad we came here we loved our two weeks here - thank you so much Helwas beach

We had a very pleasant stay at Helwas Beach Resort and really enjoyed our time here. The atmosphere is relaxing, the people are always kind and welcoming, and the location is perfect for enjoying the beautiful Zanzibar coastline. A special mention definitely goes to the breakfast, which was fantastic! A great way to start every day, with delicious food and plenty of choice. But what really made our stay even more enjoyable was the kindness and friendliness of the staff. A very special thank you to the lovely girls at the reception, especially Irene and Siria. They were always welcoming, helpful and ready to assist us with a smile. Thank you to everyone at Helwas Beach Resort for making us feel welcome and for contributing to a beautiful stay in Zanzibar. We definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing and pleasant holiday surrounded by the beauty of the island!

Clean, comfortable, lovely balcony to sit out on. Air conditioning and a fan. Lovely large bathroom.

There was a building being built next to the site which slightly spoilt the outlook but I’m sure it will be fine when it’s been completed.

Beautiful setting right on the beachfront. Rooms are nice. Comfy beds. Good AC. Showers have hot water with good water pressure. Food was good - we weren’t blown away by the curry or the clam pasta, but desert was delicious. Waitresses were really friendly.

No wifi in the rooms - this was made worse by the (patronising) excuse that we should “be present” instead of on our phones - not helpful when one of our group had to then go to a room in a different hotel to have a private work call which would not have been suitable in a public area. Laundry fees are incredibly expensive; again, we had to go somewhere else for this. Breakfast is not at all worth the $12 - I had a small bland omelet and small plate of fruit. We have had far better breakfasts in other hotels in Tanzania. The mosquito nets have multiple large holes. No toiletries in the room other than hand soap.
