Finca Ixobel

We stayed in one of the 'tree houses' (actually a room on stilts). It was clean and comfortable, and private. The wi-fi worked well. Good shower with hot water. Good restaurant.

The bathroom is downstairs and the bed is upstairs, which is a bit inconvenient, but we knew that when we got the room.

This is a bit of a hidden gem between Poptun and Rio Dulce, set in fields among trees with little pointy wooded hills. We went for the peace; it's just off the road but down a long track so it feels much more rural, and for the horse riding, which was great. We enjoyed our cute wooden cabin with hammock veranda, and walking around the grounds.

It's really cold at night! The bedcovers are thin, and we slept in our puffer jackets. The water in the shower is barely lukewarm. Some of the staff are very sweet while others couldn't really be bothered. The food and drink in the restaurant is pricey and without a very exciting choice for vegetarians/vegans. Make sure it's served piping hot. We felt it was rather a strange sort of place that would probably have more atmosphere in high season; it wasn't helped by the cold, rainy weather. But we did enjoy the riding and the company of volunteer Paula.

There was a very good variety of options, the food was tasty, and the place were comfortable.

Due to the place was very natural and there was a rainy day there were a lot of mud.

You get in touch with nature and it was very clean

Mattresses are hard and too bad in our stay there was a noisy family that didn’t let us sleep
