Would recommend this stay if you plan to stay in the North Shore - however, plan for the traffic!

Perfect stay in Takapuna

The location is awesome! So close to everything yet tucked away and quiet. Free laundry was a pleasant surprise and the staff was so helpful and friendly!

The bed was a bit soft for our taste and there was a tree branch that was rubbing on the roof during the high winds so a couple nights were a bit noisy.

The communal areas were great it’s so nice to stay somewhere and be able to chat with other guests The staff were amazing , everything was so clean and well maintained - location to beach is exceptional!! James was a wonderful host

Even though the rooms were supplied with portable fans it would be easy to install ceiling fans especially over bed areas . Otherwise everything was brilliant

Lovely place, not as tranquil as I thought

The cleanliness of the suite was top drawer and everything was in order. For me, the bed was very comfortable and you had everything that you needed. And the proximity to the beach was wonderful.... I didn't swim in the sea, but the beach was lovely and the sea looked amazing. The beach wasn't crowded, which was also nice. Plenty of places to eat and drink In close proximity to the complex. Certainly the place is very nice and clean and all the staff were lovely and very helpful.

In my head, going from the pictures, advertising the hotel, it was a quiet, tranquil location. This wasn't necessarily the case, if you have a suite on the wrong side of the complex, you were right next door to a road which was fairly busy as people were heading to the carpark for the beach. There is a lovely place to eat just a few yards from the emerald inn, I'm assuming it's lovely, as I never went, as it was always rammed with customers, often queuing out the door, so it sounds good, judging by the queue. I was only staying for 3 nights so I couldn't work out if there was a good time to attempt to visit the cafe/restaurant. Beautiful location though. The internet that the emerald inn offers was pretty woeful. It worked, but it was very slow, ( you had to find the sweet spot in your room to get a strong connection, or your video call would stand a chance of ending lol ) certainly compared to everywhere else I stayed. I mentioned this to the very pleasant and helpful guy in the reception when I left and he told me this was being upgraded very soon.

Enjoyable stay at the Emerald Inn

The location was great and it was nice and quiet. It was the ideal location to chill.

The room got hot. There is no aircon/heat pump for cooling. There was only a cheap small fan that we made work. Our room had no towels. That was easily resolved by calling the after hours number. Plenty of carparks but some of them are very awkward to get in to and out of. The lane is very tight in places.

Great location, right by the beach, restos and shops. Quiet and comfortable sleep, worked for a one night stop.

Both rooms smelled fusty and were a bit tired round the edges. Our room had a cute outside terrace but the chairs, table and floor were covered in bird poo so we didn’t use it. Would benefit from a deep clean.

Lovely location with stroll either way to beach or shops. Good sized comfortable room with kitchen facilities for food prep if you wanted. Small pool if you wanted a dip or to sit outside. Our room had outdoor chairs at the back in a tropical alley.

Great location close to the water and to the shops and restaurants of Takapuna. Leafy garden setting for the entire complex. Very handsome room with garden outlook.

Shower didn't have a curtain or shower box, so water spread more widely than was desirable. No toilet roll holder. First world problems, I know . . .
