Casa Pura Vida Surf Hostel - Tamarindo Costa Rica

Very well managed, clean and plenty of bathrooms, airconditioning, fans, great kitchen, outdoor eating area, filtered water, filtered coffee, and laundry service (6 dollars a kilo), small pool and plenty of outdoor space to relax in-a very social setting for guests to enjoy and mix with one another. Reception staff were friendly and helpful as were the housekeeping staff.

If l was to make a small comment, it would be that the private room that we had was small for 2 people. There was a fridge in the room which was great.

Casa Pura Vida Surf Hostel was exactly what I wanted in Tamarindo. It has a relaxed, chilled surf-hostel vibe rather than a loud party-hotel feel, which suited me perfectly as a surfer. The location is excellent — close enough to walk to the beach, surf, shops and restaurants, but still peaceful enough to properly relax. The pool, kitchen, common areas, games, air conditioning and general setup made it easy to feel comfortable straight away. It felt social without being chaotic, and I’d honestly recommend it as the main place to consider in Tamarindo if you want a laid-back surf/travel atmosphere.

Nothing major. My only real regret is that I only stayed one night. If I had known how much the vibe suited me, I would have booked longer.

Had a great time! Everything was very clean, including toilets. Kitchen had an ice machine. Staff was friendly. Common areas were great, good to make friends.

The Ac cannot be turned off or controlled

Great location - near to the centre and a 5 minute walk to the beach.

Really noisy in the evenings with loud music. Compost heap really close to leisure areas which was unpleasantly smelly.
