Hôtel Crayon Rouge - Louvre Palais Royal

Excellent choice of hotel. Its location was outstanding: we could reach almost everything on foot within just a few minutes. Public transport was also extremely convenient, with buses, the Metro and the RER all close by. As for the hotel itself, it was stylish and full of character, with exceptionally polite and helpful staff. Our room was spotless and thoughtfully designed, with beautiful details that made a real difference-from the charming bay window to the lighting, the shower and even the toilet layout. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, with an excellent mattress and pillows that ensured a great night's sleep. A lovely touch was the chilled infused water and madeleines that were always available in the lobby, making us feel welcome whenever we returned. Choosing the right hotel is an important part of any trip, and this one truly enhanced our experience of Paris. I have visited the city several times before, but this time I felt I genuinely experienced its magic. **Highly recommended.** ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I liked that it is in the first Arrondissement. My room was fab, very comfortable and so cool (in both senses of the word). The breakfast was a buffet, which was perfect. I loved the decor of the hotel, so quirky, someone had put alot of thought into it. So much nicer than a chain hotel. It was also lovely and quiet, ideal for an old lady travelling alone.

Location

The location was great and the design of the hotel was modern and fun however it felt like it was quite tired and in need of a bit of a facelift. Considering that it was almost £250 per night I have stayed in hotels for the same price or less that were much more up together. There was hair in the shower from the previous guest (not from their head) and bar one member of staff, the others found it difficult to acknowledge me let alone say hello. One receptionist in particular was there when I checked in and checked out, and he sat at the desk and watched me struggle in and out with my luggage. Also, when I checked out and went to get the lift down to the ground level, the housekeeper pushed her way into the lift in front of me and did not offer to let me ride down with her. Having walked past this hotel numerous times before when visiting Paris I had always been keen to stay there however I will not be returning as the quality of the stay did not reflect the price.
