Wow. It took this dedicated family 30 years to renovate this Gothic castle, and the results are a m a z i n g .
If you want to step back in time and pretend you are living in the Kingdom of Aragon in the medieval era, stay here. The smoke marks from the original kitchen are still present and many of the original 11th-14th century spaces restored. The host, Elena, shared the whole fascinating story.
You will find yourself in the middle of the country in a small village (80 inhabitants), yet be comfortable. A perfect stop if travelling north east - south east.
Elena and her family have done a sterling job to keep the historical integrity of this castle, complete with cats!, and the (contemporary) rooms all have a personality as deep and warm as the owners.
We felt like we were welcomed into a home, complete with roof terrace and medieval nooks and crannies with a wealth of history on display. Our photo shows the view from the parapets on the rooftop of a storm that passed whilst we were there - rare and quite an experience.
