Kandy Riverside Villa

A beautiful home in the middle of nature 🌿❤️ We absolutely loved our stay at Kandy Riverside Villa! It is a wonderful family-run place where you are welcomed not just as a guest, but almost like a member of the family. The owners and staff are incredibly kind, warm and caring. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and looked after. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious and very generous, with fresh local food. We even enjoyed bananas growing right there on the property — it really makes you feel connected to the place and nature. The surroundings are simply incredible: lush, almost wild tropical jungle, with the villa located right by the river and beautiful views of the water. Our room was very comfortable, but our favourite part was the gorgeous terrace. Sitting there in the evening, listening to the sounds of the jungle and the river, was such a peaceful and special experience. The hostess Thandanie is a wonderful, friendly and genuinely kind person, and the whole atmosphere of the villa feels warm and personal. We enjoyed every moment of our stay and would absolutely love to come back again. If you are looking for beautiful nature, peace, authentic Sri Lankan hospitality and a place that feels like home, Kandy Riverside Villa is a wonderful choice. Highly recommended! 🌿💚

Look is nice and good view of the river, even though the place is not exactly looks like the profile picture here.

Hot water takes little time to hot and not very hot also. And Air conditioning only one for all the 5pf USA’s a family room.

Ambience and food

Not in the proper town

The river view was good, and I appreciated the well-arranged three-bedroom apartment with convenient facilities like an electric kettle, microwave oven, pantry top with a sink, large table, refrigerator, and a comfortable sofa. The place was clean, the air conditioning worked well, hot water was available, and the bathrooms and linens were tidy. The parking area was also spacious and well-maintained.

We originally booked two deluxe family rooms, but when we inquired upon arrival, we were told that those rooms were unavailable and the only option they could provide was a three-bedroom apartment. Fortunately, the apartment was spacious, clean, and exclusive to us, so it worked out fine. However, there were a few cleanliness issues—the dustbin hadn’t been emptied, and the fridge contained used water bottles from previous guests. The dinner we ordered was just average and didn’t feel worth the price. The breakfast buffet was also disappointing. When we arrived, there were no items available, and only after a few minutes did they start bringing out food, which turned out to have very limited variety. I’d rate the food 6/10. The worst part of the stay was a sudden water leak from the ceiling in one of the rooms, which flooded the floor. Though we were about to check out, it created quite a mess. When we reported the issue, the staff had already tried to clean it (which only made things worse) before informing the owner, who then responded rather rudely, asking why we hadn’t contacted them earlier. It seemed like a clear miscommunication on their end. Since we were already preparing to leave, we didn’t request a room change or want to escalate things, we simply paid the bill and left.
