Platan Boutique Hotel Samarkand

The location is pleasant, seems like an upscale semi residential area, surrounded with nice restaurants and hotels, near the main attractions. The room is big and comfortable. Very few guests stayed during our nights , it feels quiet and exclusive. The restaurant area (garden & indoor) is great. We had many two dinners and breakfasts, lots of variety in food and delicious.

The decoration and design of the lobby can be improved to match the overall vibe of the estate

The room was huge, with all the things necessary. Breakfast is exceptionally good. Staff is friendly and welcoming.

Some interior things were slightly worn. And it was a bit confusing with garden cafe: at some hours, it was closed, then open, a bit unpredictable.

The staff are very helpful and nice, the hotel restaurant is superb foodwise, as is the breakfast, although when busy service is poor. Breakfast is a la cart and orders can take 20~25mins even you are first served. Seems like one chef and one serving at a time. We planned on a 30mins walk to Emir tomb but had to take a taxi cos breakfast took 45 mins. Buffet would be a better option. At dinner we ordered items that did not come, wrong items ( and then the waiters argued) and even had a beer spilled on one of us AND no offer of, or delivery of, another beer even though we suggested it (there wasn't much beer left, but it is the principle by way of apology.) The food, however, makes up for it, as does the outside setting. It is in a nice area of town with plenty local shops, a superb little bar restaurant across the road, 30 mins walk / 10 mins by ride to the main attractions. Laundry is cheap, and efficient. 2 twin beds pushed together was huge.

The room smelled musty for the whole stay. It was big, but poorly furnished considering the supposed quality of hotel - I mean a wardrobe, a small chair, a small table, small bedsides, but spartan and kinda dull and unfriendly. There were free chocolates but they looked like they had been there, exposed to the air, a long time, so we left them for the next occupant. The price was ok but nothing special considering the room. There was a capsule coffee machine just 2 capsules

The staff were very helpful.

The drains in the bathroom are smelly and the base of the shower is leaking, so the bathroom constantly smells. There is improvement works in progress at the hotel, so hopefully this will be a part of it.
