Villa Primerose

A very beautiful old mansion, kind and helpful staff, good parking on the grounds. Good breakfast. Overall, a slightly eccentric experience for a two night stay but we like that sort of thing.

Excellent breakfast; very comfortable room and good bathroom; lovely environment; the optional light supper was very welcome; the EV charging facilities were a great asset.

It was a very hot time when we stayed, and there was no air conditioning in our room. Normally this would not have mattered, as the room had a high ceiling and was airy. But AC would have been good in the exceptional heat wave.

The stay was suprisingly like feeling inside a 100 year old manor. Charles was a great host and so helpful and pleasant to talk to. The place is decorated with original vintage interior and furniture making it one of those stays you remember, even though we only spent one night as it was a pitstop travelling by car. Thanks also to Charles for booking diner reservations in a not so familiar language to us. All in all great stop for the whole family. Wifi for the kids and a nice drink on the porch for the parents.

We loved the vintage atmosphere, but do not expect polished steel and anonymous rooms. No two rooms are alike and it oozes of heritage. Everything was however functioning and clean.

The Host made us feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable during our two night stay ! We called Villa Primrose - a B&B - NOT a HOTEL OR RESTAURANT - in advance to let them know of our estimated arrival time. During that conversation the host asked us if wanted to have dinner in the evening, to which we replied NO, since we had bought some food and wine along the road that we were planning on having in the evening on arrival as a picnic. On arrival we asked if it was possible for us to sit in the garden in the evening (HUGE garden - NOT very tidy, but with table and chairs) and the host told us that would be OK and he showed us the way to the garden. Later when we went out to sit in the garden a servant told us that some of the tables were reserved for other guests that were going to have the served dinner and we were asked to move to another table. Not a problem - we did. Suddenly the host comes out and starts to YELL at us and telling us that we are not allowed to sit in the garden unless we were having the dinner that was served !!!! We had to move IMMEDIATELY !!!!!! We packed up our food and went to our rooms. Later in the evening I received a long and UNPLEASANT email message from the host with an accusation that we actually had ordered dinner and then didn't want it, that we were absolutely NOT allowed to eat anything in our rooms during our stay etc, etc, etc...... In addition to the above, we had to pay EUR 15/ per person on arrival for breakfast with OLD and STALE Croissants..... Say no more !
