Clean, comfortable and excellent location

Perfect location. Good kitchen space. Laundry facilities. Bathrooms and bedrooms new looking. Bathroom especially very clean. We had a ground floor double room which was beside a toilet shower - great location and still very quiet. lovely garden area with hammocks and tables/chairs, BBQ.

Parking - very little parking available on their lot - 4 pr 5 vehicles - otherwise you are on the street. Luckily, we were there over a weekend so parking was free. I'm not sure what you would do otherwise.

Typical hostel - great location

Fan didn’t work in our room so it was very hot. Shared kitchen was cleaned daily but the fridges weren’t well maintained - a better system needed so the hostel owners know what can be thrown! Showers were small and the door into the cubicle made it hard to get in and out of the shower.

Not worth it

The location was good and one lady was helpful when I needed extra pillows, even though I later heard the manager shouting at her for it.

Most staff were not friendly and reluctant to help. Noisy guests and staff past 11pm. Communal spaces were not always clean. Bathroom had no hooks and the doors were hard to open and close. The bins were full and smelt awful for a few days. The manager was unprofessional and shouted at a member of staff in front of guests. It was hard to find a fork and the kitchen was dirty and disorganised with mouldy food in the fridge.

A good value for money spacious room

Clean spacious room with a small kitchen area fit to prepare your breakfast. For real cooking there is a kitchen downstairs. The room is situated at the first floor and has a balcony. The location is perfect just a few minutes walk from the wharf and close to shops and eating facilities.

The stay was OK. I just wished I was in a room with a little more privacy.

There was no breakfast as it is a backpackers lodge. The location was good as it was by the town centre.

There was no privacy as it faced out on the main courtyard. My room was by the hallway leading into the kitchen and TV room where you heard everything.

Value stay with kind host, great facility access and location.

Wonderful stay. Clean bathroom and huge kitchen. Bring your food to cook and there’s complimentary condiments and cooking oils they don’t mind sharing with you. Free parking on premises and host was kind enough to allow us to leave the car a few hours after check out so we could do the Bay of Islands tour. Great location next to shops and Paihia wharf where the tours meet. You can rent a kayak all day for $15 too.

Excellent location and well priced to allow vacation budget to be used for excursions in this popular resort location. Convenient walking access to restaurants, grocery store, i-site, shuttle service to Waitangi and ferries to Russell.

Nice dorms

Booked a bed in a dorm of 6 and to my pleasure it was only me and another girl. Super nice and clean, the staff was also really nice. Only thing would be that it was a bit noisy as construction was prob going on next to our room. Would recommend !

Great location, very central and close to everything.

It wasn’t clean, the kitchen was dirty and smelt weird and the communal areas looked like they hadn’t been cleaned for a long time. The top bed on the bunk had no railings and there was very little space/ plugs available in the rooms.

Great place for a budget trip, highly recommended.

The studio was great; it included a deck, a kitchenette, and its facilities. Situated on a peaceful street, it is close to both the town centre and the sea. Excellent value for the money overall.

Parking space is limited, 'First come, first serve' might leave you without parking even outside the lodge.

We had come for the Country Rock Festival, which was three days of fabulous music. Wonderful!!

It was so very reasonably priced and the location was great. We were able to walk almost everywhere we went. The kitchen was clean and had everything we needed. The rooms were small but we were only there to sleep so they suited our purpose admirably.

Superb

Location was very nice and staff friendly. The kitchen is well equipped and we liked the little common room on the first floor, that had also a sink, kettle and toaster. There is a whirlpool that you can use for free which was pretty cool, too.

Our lock of the door didn't work too well. You always had to try several times and jiggle the key in it to find the right position to open the door. Staff was friendly but couldn't fix the problem within a day which is understandable, so we think it was a minor issue.

The lodge is pretty old, needs a ground renovation, the showers and bathrooms downstairs were dirty, the kitchen was old, all the dishes are used and old. Internet speed is slow.
