Spanish by the Sea - Bocas

Extremely helpful staff. We only stayed for one night and they helped us arrange a transfer to Puerto Viejo and made sure it went smoothly. They usually charge for towels but we were missing breakfast because of the early transfer and they let us use their towels for free. Faultless service, highly recommend!

The place is perfectly located since the town is super small, and is near many supermarkets. The common area and the kitchen are super comfy, and is perfect if you´re planning to stay for a couple of days. The room was big enough and had two fans. The staff was super friendly and they let us leave our luggage prior and after the check in and check out hours. I´d definitevely recommend it!

The noise around the common area very early in the morning and sometimes late at night. The shower only had one tap and the water wouldn´t come out hot enough. And there wasn´t any rug outside the bathing area, so the floor was wet and slippery after a shower. The room didn´t include towels and they´f rent them for $2 each.

- Location is in a safe area, with a few supermarkets within walking range. - Kitchen was reasonably equiped. - 3 bedroom dorm is spacious with lots of shelving, small lockers for valuables and two fans. - Chill out area with table tennis, lounges and hammocks, great for socialising.

- Lack of information when the water ran out. No one could tell us when the issue is going to be resolved, even after two days. - No back up options to flush toilets when water was out, which left the toilets almost un-usable. Plus no shower. - Only staff on site were volunteers who were fairly new and didn't seem to know what to do when things went wrong. - Included breakfast was very small, just one pancake with a little bit of fruit.
