Trents by Greene King Inns

The breakfast was very disappointing as the staff told us that toast was no longer on the menu. A usual part of the English breakfast. Choice was limited if you had preferred a continental breakfast

No toast. Little choice!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and had many extras. The pub offered a range of food , which was very useful. Tea and coffee were available in the room. Although the pub had no car park of its own, there was a public car park nearby.

Could not open the window in the room. There was a fan,which was very useful but not the same as outside air. Breakfast was very generous, but there was little option if you did not want the full breakfast.

Lovely big room in a great location in the city centre. A really big comfy bed and fan provided. A nice filling breakfast in the morning finished things off nicely.

No water provided in the room however glasses provided for tap water. Shower was difficult to regulate so either really hot or cold.

The location was excellent and made visiting the central locations very easy. However, parking is problematic as the nearest car park is extremely expensive for unloading and pick-up. The bar staff were welcoming, helpful, and informative.

The car parking and access are significant issues, especially with the myriad of narrow one-way streets that surround the old town centre. The biggest disappointment was not the pub, but the breakfasts. There were extremely slim pickings with just a few packets of cereal, one bottle of fruit juice, and some dried out oranges available if you didn't have cooked food. The cooked offerings were very hit and miss depending on the chef. Some days generous, others skimpy and poorly cooked. There was consistently no toast available when requested despite jam, marmalade, and marmite being available on the table (even though there was a Tescos opposite for ease of supply). I am sure that Greene King should have done better to make our stay more enjoyable.
