Clarkes Beach Villa - steps to beach & Byron town

The location of the property is great being across the road from the beach. Beds are comfortable. Good amenities such as dishwasher, washing machine, dryer etc

We took this property after our prior property had been unexpectedly cancelled a week before our arrival date. This was one of two properties left and the cost was twice the amount we were being charged for our original booking. We had family and friends staying so we felt we had to ‘take the fall’ so to speak. I still feel sick at what we were charged but finding a property for 6 people 6 days before our booking is practically impossible My eyes still Water at what we were charged, (think flights to Europe for a family of 4 price). The fact that we were paying over double the amount of our original accommodation that-had a better location and air conditioning made this a bitter pill to swallow. I feel like the owners just put in a ridiculous price to see who would pay. We were the suckers! No air conditioning. I would cope if the fans had a speed which would cool down the upstairs but they did little to diminish the sweltering heat. Downstairs fans were okay except speed was either cyclone or a slight whisper, no in between. I did not sleep well because it was just too hot at night and my husband couldn’t deal with the crazy one only speed Of the fan. Arrived to find front tile area stained and dirty from leaves, a dirty cracked bin and an old broom in the garden. Had to request a bucket and mop as the tiles areas downstairs and bathroom become filthy after teenagers coming in from beach or in and out the bathroom. The clothesline area step had weeds all over it, whilst the clothesline has old rusty, half broken pegs that would mark your washing. The dishwasher filter had not been cleaned so another task I had to deal with as well as mopping and scrubbing the front tile area entrance. My pet hate is when rental properties do not provide enough cleaning items. In this case, 3 dishwashing tablets stuck together with moisture adds insult after being charged what we did. Condiments were provided and were a welcome find.
