Great views but unfriendly living conditions

Great views. Classic decoration. Friendly staff

Shower is too much of an old fashion that it is not user friendly at all. Breakfast is NOT healthy - way too much sweet and calories, and nearly no vegetables and too little fruits.

We loved our stay. Our room was comfortable and clean albeit a little dated.

We found the drive up and down to the hotel tricky. You definitely need a car. Mosquitos by the pool.

Lovely hotel for a romantic Italian break.

Beautiful location, stunning building which oozes with history - also very peaceful with amazing views. Nice food, friendly serving staff and catered well for one vegetarian and one coeliac. The tiramisu was so good!

A little difficult to get a drink sometimes in the afternoon as the staff must have been on their breaks. Not sure we appreciated just how far away Lucca was - that’s on us though, not the hotel. Hiring a car would have been sensible.

It is a bit far away from the city so you definitely need a car. The road to get up to the property is winding and can be a bit stressful. Air conditioning in the room could have been cooler.

Great getaway in a very nice and quite hotel with great view of Lucca valley and very helpfull staff

This is a great location, on top of a hill few kilometers from Lucca. While it is easy to get there, you will need a car (parking is provided). Whole place is spacious, nicely furbished, very clean and tidy, really cosy and great to spend time in a quit and peaceful place. Hotel includes small restaurant for in-house guests and they offer selected number of meals which are very good (you will not be hungry and whatever you are offered will be very good), there is a good selection of drinks too. Staff is very polite and caring (this is small hotel, 10 rooms, so you are really getting attention in a very unobtrusive way). Wifi is very good so you can work if needed. While we were there visiting Lucca summer festival, I guess that the very best time to be there is spring or autumn when the heat/sun is lower and you can spend more time outside on daily trips (with high sun you can spend time on fairly sized and nice hotel pool). Oh, and the view from the rooms and the hotel terrace is very, very nice. In short, when we decide to go to Lucca area again, we will look to revisit Relais Farinati!

Some people in their reviews complained about the narrow road to the hotel, but this is very standard and typical road which you can find in just about any mediteranian place, really nothing to complain about.

Fantastisk

We had booked a one-week stay at this lovely place. There is a wonderful atmosphere, which is of course created by the owner and the incredibly kind staff. They were helpful with everything we asked about. Beautiful room with a fantastic view. We quickly discovered that the food here was in a league of its own. We soon agreed to dine here every evening. Lovely pool and great drinks. We give it 5 stars and our warmest recommendations.

Unusual and lovely stay.

Curious hotel with an air of faded glamour, combined with homely furnishings and exceptionally friendly staff. It felt like stepping back in time but without any stuffiness. Amazing location up a twisty road. It's probably not for everyone, but we really enjoyed our stay.

The food was merely 'ok', with much better options in Lucca itself. The messaging online was a little 'Basil Fawlty' e.g. strong "adults only" in the listings and complex rules about check-in. Almost didn't book as a result, but in fact it was all ok and the owners and staff were lovely, kind and helpful. Room had a massive bathroom with a bath, but some fixtures needed updating e.g. bath tub.

A wonderful place to stay. Everything was great from the food, the service, the view, felt like you were staying in someone’s house. Complete peace and quiet.

Not a dislike but you are up in the hills, so be prepared for steep windy roads to get up to the hotel, but well worth it.

Wonderful stay with great staff and excellent meals

The grounds and building are beautiful, everything is well maintained and classic. The location is great for visiting the local area. The staff is very accommodating and gladly helps you with any questions or concerns you have. They gave us great ideas for places to see and where to park which in Italy is worth its weight in gold. We ate dinner on site and every meal was excellent, we really enjoyed eating on the patio and looking over the valley below.

This place is beautiful, and the views are breathtaking! Everyone was so helpful and accommodating, and they even made us reservations for wine tasting. The meals were fantastic as well! We ate there every night. Relais Farinati was the highlight of our trip!

Wonderful relaxing stay at exceptional place.

We had the most wonderful stay for four nights. The lodging, staff, food, and dogs were the most wonderful. We didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to return on our next holiday. The included breakfasts were wonderful with lots of options. The dinners were unbelievable and delicious. We ate dinner at the property every evening because it was so delicious. Private and safe parking. We loved our time here.

Location was glorious. Staff were so friendly and kind, this is a homely stay that we enjoyed alongside the staffs three dogs. The food was also excellent and the ordering was flexible.

Beautiful hotel with the most incredible views. Excellent home cooked meals for dinner from a daily changing menu.

The bathroom could have done with more hanging rails and the mottely mirror, although beautiful, was not best for applying makeup. A shelf or rack is needed for soap and shampoos inside the shower cubicle. Breakfast was very fresh but we would have appreciated a menu to see what was on offer.

A magical villa located in the beautiful mountains. The place is so unique! we also had dinner there that was incredible, and having breakfast on the terrace while enjoying the views was perfect.

The only thing that I was a little concerned about was that the key to the rooms are the generic kind, so the rooms are not very secured.
