For us, this was a special visit, the 5 star rating comes at 5 star prices, so our investment needed to ,eet or exceed our expectations, and boy does Gidleigh Park do this ! ...... From our room, and the facilites, the hotel itself, the food, the stunning building, and the more than exceptional staff, there for us at every turn, quietly ensuring that we had a memorable stay, simply amazing. The setting is just superb, a beautiful corner of Devon, with the River Teign running through the estate, the beutifully manicured gardens, I could wax lyrically about this place for a long time, but hopefully you get my drift. Not Cheap, but worth every penny

Super location. Really comfortable room. Nice ambience with lots of Xmas decorations. Open fires initially then for some reason not lit later in our stay

Peaceful quiet comfortable warm lovely staff

The location the staff where very nice. The room was clean. The place was lovely and quite which was what we wanted. Shame about the weather

The menu was a bit limited for the ending meal from the brasserie. And the afternoon tea wasnot as nice as the one we had in the summer

the atmosphere is just perfect easy combination of professional but casual. excellent staff vv knowledgeable. loved the food dinner was wonderful. lovely size room.

the hash brown for breakfast tasted a bit dry and not especially recently cooked. dinner was divine. lovely cocktails. i did notice in the room that the linings of the curtains was ripped. did not bother me but thought you should be aware. coffee in the room before breakfast is a lovely touch.

A wonderful location for a special occasion.

Excellent breakfast choices, more than I could manage! Very helpful staff throughout the hotel, front of house, restaurant or wherever. Restaurant staff very well trained, and made our daughter's special day memorable.

A pity there is not a lift but I don't know where you would accommodate one in such a building. A small point - please vacuum the extractor covers in the bathroom, toilet, shower! The roads leading to the hotel - not for the faint-hearted driver!

Grounds beautiful, breakfast lovely, room lovely and comfortable and terrace was stunning. Beautiful bathroom

No Tea/Coffee in room, could not get a sandwich at 11pm when we arrived, no food on offer despite late check in advised. No estate maps left. Cleaning rag left in bathroom. Breakfast plate cleared when we had not finished eating.

A perfect location for a very Special occassion.

This was a special occassion to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary, it was a very elegant Hotel in a beautiful location, and the staff were very attentive to our requirements. The evening meal was very special as this Haute cuisine food is not what we are used to, the breakfast in the morning was equally special too.

We love the location, very private. The food was excellent…extraordinary flavours! The staff were outstanding. We’ve stayed at the property before and especially like the fact that we see some of the same faces, which says a lot about the excellent management. We enjoyed our stay very much and plan to go back!

Truly 5 star in an exquisite setting with the best service we have ever experienced

The service and setting is impeccable - the best I have ever seen. Also the food was exquisite.

Our room wasn’t as good as it should have been, the shower was too small so my 6 foot 3 husband could not stand up in it :-(

Magical location, great food and friendly staff

Lack of suitable high tables for guests dining with a dog. The Lounge menu is fine dining which can’t be eaten off of a lower table sitting on a couch.

Highest standards in evidence throughout.

Highly personalised service is the policy at this sublime establishment. Excellent standards in all areas, seamless from arrival to service, food and drink. Attention to detail throughout. Very peaceful and relaxing location.

Only things I would criticise were: no doors on bathroom or shower area. Bit wierd. This is a very remote property.

Superb stay in a stunning location

Superb location, beautiful room, exceptional service and food. We had a wonderful stay for a Birthday celebration. The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. The food was delicious. Gidleigh has a beautiful setting and, weather permitting, always explore the extensive gardens and woodland.

Beautiful hotel and grounds. A very relaxing stay

Hotel was really lovely . Food was of a high standard and staff treated us well.

A kettle and tea and coffee facilities in our room would be good as many people like to make a drink late at night You don’t want room service then. Some information in the room about the hotel and facilities. A pool and spa facilities would take this hotel to another level

a little old fashioned and poor value for money

staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble

our room was £500 per night, was over the front door of the property and we were woken both mornings at 7am. it faced some bushes but had no view at all. the food was good but we stayed 2 nights and they did not change all the menu despite having 1 Michele one star

Fabulous, we think it might be the best hotel we've ever stayed at.

We loved absolutely everything. It was a last minute booking made on the morning of our stay and it couldn't have been better. Staff, hotel, room, service, food, drinks, gardens - there is nothing to fault. It was glorious. Thank you, we can't wait to come again.

We do quite like to have some tea/coffee facilities in the room, and biscuits with our morning tea would have been very welcome!
