Weak Internet connection and quality of pillows

Pod Orłem is a historic hotel built in the 19th century. It’s perfectly located on one of my favorite streets in Toruń—just steps away from Szeroka (Wide) Street, the main Old Town promenade. It's right there in the heart of the city where everything happens! The room doesn't have AC, but to my delight, the heavy-duty outside window shades did the job perfectly and made the room pitch black—exactly how I like it for a good night's sleep. The mattress was firm, which I also preferred. Parking is right outside the main entrance on the street, and the reception staff was very helpful. My room window faced the courtyard, so it was quiet—a huge plus, considering it's right in the center of a popular city's Old Town. ;) Very good price for such a location!

The pillows could use an upgrade; they were clean, but definitely worn out. Some guests might also complain about the old carpeting in the hallways or the creaky wooden stairs. But remember, this is a historic building, and - to me - the location easily outweighs any of those minor downsides.

We had booked a big apartment for three persons and one bedroom for one person. It was not possible to use the couch of the apartment as a bed or to add an additional bed, making the apartment only suitable for a couple. Staff and management did not help, on the contrary. They did not try to find a solution and we had to use for the three persons the other two beds bedroom booked by us while paying the rate for the apartment. The manager did not display an acceptable customer service behavior to say the least, using inappropriate language (exchanges conducted in Polish language). Not aligned with the rating and standard alleged for the hotel.
