Hostel Candelaria

A great hostel in a very nice setting The outdoor area was very large, with several different shaded areas to sit. The staff were all tremendously helpful and fun to talk to. The breakfast offered each morning was different and freshly made during my five day stay. The room itself was nice, with both ac and a ceiling fan to choose from.

The employees Andrea and especially Edgar made my stay better with their company, stories and things to do / go / eat. The kitchen staff also very friendly! And the breakfast really nice. Felt safe, clean and the property was overall well taken care off

My initial experience was not pleasant because my roommates were the opposite of tidy. Fortunately, they relocated me to a different room with better roommates. The ground floor room I got had a window with mosquito net, which means noise insulation is low and at times when people come & go can be noisy. The first night, due to a noisy neighbor room, I woke up a few times and ended up using earplugs / earphones. The air conditioning in the bedroom was a great feature at night, but the ceiling fan was doing a descent job either way. the AC was cold, but it was too hot with a blanket. The bathrooms were clean, and they are almost “open” so if people are around, bathroom noises will be heard (for those who are more shy). On the other hand, it was really nice to take a shower almost “outside” in nature.

A little noisy.

The location was great, walkable distance to all things around Valladolid and a nice square in front. The kitchen / breakfast staff were really nice and breakfast was good! The dorm was very cheap and freed up some budget for a better hostel in our next stop.

The hostel & it‘s facilities are quite old and could use a revamp - especially the mattress are really old and uncomfortable. The whole hostel atmosphere is strange as wide social areas could invite socializing, classic hostel vibes or even new friendships to explore between travelers. Instead, there are no social activities, only loud music at night and reception staff that doesn’t speak a word with you. We weren’t shown the facilities and when we asked for additional information we were confronted with „I don’t know“. The internet is weak and there was always so much noise, either loud music played by staff or other travelers.
