Belltower Motor Inn

The location was convenient for my stay as I had a course on at Aquamoves, just down the road a couple of minutes by car. I thought it might be noisy as on entering the room a lot of traffic noise was evident, but once I closed the bathroom door the sound was negligible and did not bother me while listening to the TV or sleeping. The room was fairly spacious and I was pleased to see there was a microwave as I have special dietary needs for breakfast so always bring it with me. The microwave allowed me to have a warm breakfast (it would have been unpleasant cold). The bed was extremely comfortable, and I had a really good sleep (once I'd turned the TV off at the wall - the stand by light was very bright). Please note: I shower before and after work at the work venue, so I did not use the shower so can't comment on that. Soap, shampoo and conditioner were provided. There was tea and coffee supplies include UHT milk pods in the fridge, a small kettle, toaster and some cutlery, but not really much - not two of everything as you might expect in a double room, and no teaspoons or drinking glasses other than wine glasses, which is a bit weird. Some motels do not have internet TV service, only free-to-air TV, so I was pleased that I could log into iView and watch TV as I was bored.

Not sure one can make this better, but for the info of other guests: I did notice that I had to have the heating turned up quite high to be comfortable (25 while awake, 19 while asleep), not sure if the room is well insulated, but that's much higher than I use in a my very large living room at home, in a similar climate. My heater sits at between 16 and 18 in a much larger room. The communication was appalling. There were no special instructions for arrivals, so I messaged the property the day before explaining that my mum had been rushed to hospital and I might arrive later than planned so could they give me instructions for late entry. This was not responded to. I arrived at a more reasonable hour than I expected (about 6.00pm). It was a Saturday evening but the office closed at 4.30 (bit early for a Sat?). I tried calling the mobile phone number provided for after hours on the door, no answer. I then saw another sign stating there was an after hours phone around the back so I tried that, no answer, but while I was doing that someone called me back from the mobile number. I could barely hear them as there was so much background noise at their end, they told me my room number and where the key was but I couldn't hear what they said re the key. I found it under the mat thanks to another guest whose keycard wasn't working - he told me it had been left under the mat, so that's where I found my key. In the interim I had texted the mobile back to say I couldn't hear what they said could they repeat the location of the key, to this they never responded. I find this service appalling, especially in the middle of winter (although the temperature was thankfully fairly mild and dry) and despite the comfort of the room and budget price I probably won't use this property again, just because of the lack of communication.

One little cake of soap was inadequate. One face washer for 3 people was inadequate. Guests were talking outside until 1am.

No breakfast location was excellent

shower grout was mouldy and sink plug hole was the same. Some bleach and a scrub would help this unfortunate situation.

The bed was very comfy and the room overall was nice and clean.

The bathroom was a bit cramped and there was some mould on the roof. There were people drinking and talking noisily from 1.30am-4.30am in the morning right outside our room, no regard for anyone else trying to sleep.
