Taito Ryokan

I liked the experience but be aware that it is a very OLD traditional house therefore the amenities are fairly basic and the building is noisy. That is exactly why it is a very authentic experience, not one of these fancy new ryokan. I really enjoyed it but not everyone may. If you want more privacy, your own bathroom and a western bed, there are a few APA hotels nearby for almost the same price but you'll get a generic room. Taito ryokan in the other hand offers an experience you can only get in Japan.

Only 1 window out of 3 had blinds, so it got pretty bright in the room quite early (face mask is required in summer)

Satoshi was very welcoming. The room was comfortable and clean and the location ideal for exploring Tokyo.

There is some building work going on but this was just during the day so didn’t really affect us as we were out all day.

Authentic wooden ryokan. Even if it room was simple and having basic fournitures, both room and shared spaces were clean and the matress to sleep on was comfortable. Wifi was stable. The owner has been all time present, very helpful and kind. Amazing location in Asakusa, where all restaurants, shops and cafes are located, the nearest metro station is three minutes walking and the beautiful SensoJi Temple just 5 minutes walking.

Didn't know that towels weren't included, but still available extra for very cheap price.

If you are looking to feel like you are traveling Japan in the 19th century, this is the hotel for you. Futons, tatami, shared bathroom, and indoor bugs since the windows aren’t real and the walls are made of paper.

For a mere 1000 yen more you could stay at a business hotel nearby with a private bathroom and a lock on your door that is not something a child would use to secure their diary. The innkeeper had also draped every available wall in sheets he was washing.
