Winter getaway

I had high hopes for this hotel and here are some of the pros; Check in was very smooth and simple. The hotel is situated in a very picturesque place in Balloch. Staff were very friendly. Good size room. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was delicious.

Some parts of the room that have been plastered need painted; should consider replacing the wardrobe in the room as it is looking a bit tired. There is no iron or hairdryer in the room, however we didn't require either but I didn't see any information as to whether or not I could request one. Although, we enjoyed breakfast, there wasn't much choice for our 13yr old who unfortunately didn't eat breakfast as a result. We were also sat at the very back of the restaurant for breakfast and people who came in after us, had their orders taken. I had to stand up for staff to remember we were dining.

A break from a long drive.

The room was clean. The food was excellent. I had the largest, hottest breakfast of our holiday. The waiting staff were polite and efficient.

On arrival, we didn't receive the warmest of welcomes and felt we were an inconvenience.

Sparse dinner menu. Having paid for bed breakfast and evening meal and then told when checking in that the evening meal was capped at £25 per person was a shock as this was not made evident during the booking process, There was also a very noisy extraction system from the kitchen near to our room.

Relaxing time , welcoming hosts, good food and drink.

The Bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in. There was a good choice of food and drink available at a reasonable price. The staff were welcoming and informative. We returned there a couple of days after our stay for lunch. The premises are quaint and very popular.

The security door upstairs needs sorting out because it depends on which door leaf you push whether it secures correctly, on occasions I just pushed the door without using my key which defeats the object. This door is both for security and I also think it’s a Fire Door so very likely to fail an inspection.

Not so good stay in Balloch

Big room, comfortable bed, free car parking, hotel restaurant was excellent and well priced.

TV did not work (no signal), no view from window (frosted glass), difficulty in getting our suitcase to the room, we had a family room for a couple but the sofa bed was set for 4 people (so couldn’t use the sofa), wifi was a joke, high price for what we got!

As an overnight stop this was a great little hotel.

Convenient location in Balloch, rooms were clean and well equipped. As this was a brief overnight stop we didn’t spend a lot of time in the hotel but we did eat in the restaurant which was good. Service was attentive despite it being a very busy night.

Lovely hotel

Laid back atmosphere. Friendly and accommodating staff especially Ann-Marie she went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Staff in the bar were all lovely and helpful. Our room was beautiful and clean. Food was excellent. We had the best time not even storm Amy could spoil our stay. Great location to all amenities. Lots of lovely local pubs people in Balloch are very friendly and welcoming and spoke very highly of the hotel.

Avoid disappointment

We are finding it difficult to find anything positive about our stay and our dinner/breakfast.

We had to wait 10 minutes at a vacant desk to check in and when we went to the bar to ask about check in we were rudely told we had to wait at the desk. Same thing happened when we turned up on time for our booked table for dinner and waited again for 10 minutes. The excuse was that they were busy with a function!! The waitress was unwelcoming and rude throughout our ordeal. We waited for our bill for 20 minutes and then after waiting 10 mins for the card machine we ended up going to the bar to pay. Next morning at breakfast, we found out that our inclusive breakfast was not a buffet bur actually a voucher for 10.5 pounds. This just covered Eggs Benedict so if wanted any yoghurt or fruit (as per usual buffet) I would have to pay extra. The waitress argued with us and said this was stated on our room booking (it was not). Very rude service and very disappointing. Staff training required!!!

Stopover in Balloch

The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful despite being very busy. The breakfast was excellent with many interesting options. The room was spacious, with an excellent shower and TV. It was an easy walk to Loch Lomond and Balloch Castle.

The main issue we experienced was that our family room was very hot, even with the window open. The room would benefit from air conditioning or fans. My wife did not sleep well as a result.

Great starting point for Loch Lomand.

Fantastic location with great walks nearby and local attractions. Bedroom was a good size, comfortable and a good view of the river and bridge. Place was clean and styled nicely.

Food was OK, but nothing special. Not the best quality ingredients. A few areas are looking a bit tired e.g chipped paint and furniture.

Helpful and friendly staff, comfortable stay

Comfortable room which was really convenient when travelling with a teen, as we had a double bed and a sofa bed. Checking in was really fast, and the relatively late checkout was great, particularly as we were having to change our travel plans due to a storm warning. The staff were also really helpful finding another place last minute for that night. Would definitely recommend.

The breakfast was cooked to order and was absolutely fantastic. The room was nice enough but the toilet was a bit tired, paint peeling off the ceiling etc. We looked on to the church at the back and there was significant noise from something during the night. We did have the window open as it was very hot. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Not worth the money.

Location lovely. Good car park.

Place smelt as soon as we walked in. Dark and dreary too. The stairs up to the rooms were filthy. The door onto our corridor was so squeaky it disturbed our sleep. The bathroom shower didn’t drain away and almost ran over after we both showered. Then when we flushed the toilet in bubbled up into the shower!!! Hence, we didn’t shower again the following morning! Advised staff on checking out. Very expensive to say breakfast not included too! That’s 2 Inns places we’ve stayed this trip and both not up to cleanliness standards!

The room smelt of stale drains, couldn’t have breakfast because the chef hadn’t turned up for work and the night before couldn’t get a drink after 9.45pm as the staff had to get home.

A good hotel for the night with excellent food but disappointing view from room

The room was decorated nicely ,clean and a good size also comfortable bed.Dinner was excellent at hotel as was breakfast.Room quiet at night.Staff friendly.Hotel in a good position for walks along to Loch Lomand.

I was very disappointed with the room we were allocated even though we booked six months in advance asking for a room with a view.We were given a room with two windows,one was looking out onto three very large commercial bins and the other looked out into the yard where the empty beer barrels were stored,we had the noise from the drayman doing their deliveries and picking empties in the morning as well,luckily we were up early as this would have woken us.I understand that not all rooms have a view but this room must have worst views in hotel,not what I was looking forward to.

Amazing birthday stay!

Lovely hotel next to the river, beautiful veiw from our room. Room was lovely, shower was fab! Free parking behind hotel with beautiful veiw to the loch. Very friendly welcome, staff were lovely. Food was fabulous! Beer garden lovely. Weather was amazing! Couldn't fault a thing! 10/10 100% recommend!

Disappointed by quality of room and id not reflect price we paid .

The food at Balloch Hotel is of good standard , we did enjoy our breakfast and evening meal , both were hot , plentiful and of good quality ingredients . Bar and restaurant are clean and look nice. We enjoyed that area and there is a nice atmosphere in the bar. On initial arrival , staff were obviously overwhelmed , far too busy and under staffed. They were however polite and trying to help ,we did not feel any one was rude and they were all trying to help each other. The staff are very pleasant just were not enough on as the bar and hotel were very busy. Our evening meal was tasty, hot and good presentation. The food is the best part of the hotel, although staff were under staffed and our waitress did not seem happy and it was apparent she was stressed and wasn't coping with the amount of covers.

On arrival in room ,we immediately thought it was dark ,gloomy ,(It had been cleaned). However our issue was the state of the walls , we have taken photos of the damp patches /wallpaper hanging off and ery side had damp patches. This room was no where near the standard regards what we paid for the night rate. We did go backdown to check in and informed the staff member on desk ,he replied that the housekeeping team hadn't told him about it ,i did mention this has to be long term issue as its very obvious its a mess. I took decision as we were only one night to not ask to be moved ,the hotel was obviously full and busy and staff seemed over whelmed ,they didn't need anymore trouble. Nothing more was spoken to us regards the room. Breakfast from arrival to getting food was approx 45 mins due to only one staff member on for all guests to take order and serve. Again although polite was too short staffed ,( he did apologise.) On leaving ,no one around so gave him key and left, therefore we couldn't discuss the state of room 4 .
