So peaceful, beautiful gardens & service.

The serenity & quiet escape in luscious gardens. It felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. The staff & service we received was beautiful. The staff are so kind & accommodating. Nothing was ever a problem. Bobi our butler was so kind & gentle. Just watching the way he moved & served us was so relaxing. We had 2 beautiful massages while we were here (organise 1 day in advance). It is a different pace of life in Munduk. Don't except the busyness of Ubud. Beautiful stay.

It was a little bit out of town which was nice but we just had to travel back to get to a few places we wanted to visit. Very peaceful.

A relaxing stay in a beautiful setting with lovely staff

Beautiful setting, lovely accommodation and very friendly helpful owners. Bobi the butler was wonderful, very attentive and so lovely. He was on top of everything we needed even before we knew we needed it! We felt incredibly looked after & it was a highlight of our trip. A gorgeous place to relax and unwind.

Gunung paradis retreat, the stay we did not have.

The place was beautiful, the resort itself was really nice. A very calm and peaceful place. But go there only if you want to be away from everything else as there is nothing around there.

Try to look for scooter hires as there are no grabs or gojek here. Also the place is not in munduk it's a good 40mins from Munduk. It's basically in the middle of nowhere. Beware the resort does not have a restaurant as it says. They do have room service but only at certain times. Which I think is odd for a 4star resort. If you arrive at this place make sure you have had your lunch prior to coming here as you will not get any food or drinks after 1400 even though it is their check in time. The closest restaurant is a good 25min walk from the place. Be mindful it is a pretty uphill downhill area. We checked in and checked out pretty much immediately as this place was not for us, cause we knew we would struggle to get food everyday, The manager was more concerned about us writing a bad review instead of trying to help us get any food. When we asked him to drop us to the next resort he charged us triple the price for it. As there are no other taxis around be aware of getting charged extra. All In All this was the stay we didn't have it's the first time I have ever checked out from a hotel without staying there.

Absolute hidden gem.

What an amazing property, the house and grounds are superb and beautifully maintained, our room was colonial stylish, large and spotlessly clean.

The location is a little remote. You can walk easily to Mayong village where there are warungs and a convenience store, you do need transport if you want to see much more.

Gunung Paradis indeed is a paradise. The house is located in a beautiful garden and the staff provides excellent service. It is a little bit further away from Munduk, which has the advantage that the weather is usually a bit better. We loved the spacious rooms, the people and the food there.

Great for a mind refresh , full of nice surprises

We visited Gunung Paradise Retreat as a family of four, simply looking for a quiet place to relax and recharge. What we found was so much more — an experience that ended up touching us on a much deeper level. Nestled in the hills of North Bali, far from the crowded tourist areas, Gunung Paradise offers breathtaking views — though, truth be told, no photo can truly capture the magic of this place. You have to be there to feel it: the peace, the space, the spirit of the land. The owners are incredibly welcoming and passionate about local heritage and community. They made us feel right at home and generously shared their knowledge of the area, including a beautiful guided tour of the nearby village, where life moves at a slower, more meaningful pace. The food was delicious — fresh, local, and made with care — and the overall service exceeded our expectations. We weren’t seeking a spiritual retreat, but it gently found us. One of the highlights was meeting a gifted local healer. Her energy healing session and palm reading were both powerful and surprisingly accurate. One month later, I can still feel the positive impact it had on me — emotionally and energetically. Gunung Paradise isn’t just a retreat; it’s a place where something shifts inside you. If you're open to it, this tranquil hideaway might just be the turning point you didn’t know you needed.

Beautiful getaway in the Balinese nature

Amazingly located in nature and beautifully designed villas. The staff was really caring to make sure our stay with 2 small children was pleasant. A bit of room for improvement could be the food. Some Indonesian dishes missed the traditional flavour of spices and chili. But still ok.

Beautiful nature but bad service

The view and the nature surrounding the hotel

No restaurant and no reception, it was so hard to communicate with the staff. We don’t had our room cleaned the second day because they said that we needed to leave the key (nobody told us) so no towels to take a shower, and the last day we took a cold shower as they were out of gaz… not worth the price, it’s a shame because the surrounding are beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful paradise retreat! Away from the hustle and bustle! Very clean and staff very attentive, kind and helpful. Food fresh and delicious! The hosts were very welcoming and we especially loved interacting with the cockatoo! Would definitely recommend!

A little taste of Paradise

We loved our stay here. The grounds are beautiful and the location really is nice, a bit away from things but close enough to Munduk and Lovina for day trips. I have celiac disease and the owners and staff were extremely accommodating to my needs and provided many tasty options for me, including gluten free bread (which is difficult to find in Bali!).

A spectacular getaway!

The location is spectacular. Well-manicured gardens and an amazing view of the distant mountains make for a wonderful retreat from busier areas of Bali. We stayed in the Artist's Room, which is wonderful, large, and clean. A couple of things to keep in mind. This is a very remote area, so if you are wanting a quiet retreat, it is perfect. There is not a central restaurant, so a personal valet takes your food order and your meals are served at your room or outside table. The food is very good and the staff are helpful. The hosts, the owners of the property, live on site and take great pride in making sure everything is exceptional.

Exceptional

The place is set in the most beautiful garden which is big enough to walk in and relax at various places. It had a breathtaking view on the mountains and rice terraces opposite the house . The hosts are great, very thoughtful about everything. They do everything they can to get the best of your stay. The location offers various possibilities to sightseeing, ranged from the lakes, waterfalls, villages and other trekkings. It is very close to the sea as well and one hour the big city Singaraja.

The only thing you have to know is that you will need a car to go anywhere. The house will provide it for so it shouldn’t be a problem.

Rest and relaxation at Gunung Paradis

What we really loved about the accommodation was the very comfortable room,the delightful gardens,the amazing views and the wonderful pool area that we were lucky to have all to ourselves. Also the care of the staff especially the lovely young woman who delivered our beautifully cooked meals.

We had not realized that the accommodation was quite close to a main road. Having said that, the road noise did not hinder our enjoyment of the location.Inside the Garden Room was very quiet as was the pool area.

Geweldig verblijf in een oase van rust

Wat een geweldige locatie. Een oase van rust en super vriendelijk personeel. Sudi is een topper en hielp ons bij al onze vragen. Wij verbleven als gezin in het huisje met 3 slaapkamers. Geweldig huis die direct aan het zwembad staat. Ook de badkamers prachtig en luxe. We waren enigsinds terughoudend qua verwachtingen door de foto's. Echter, de positieve reviews overtuigden ons om toch te gaan. En eerlijk, wat een slechte foto's op Booking. De accomodatie is echt prachtig in het echt. Dus laat je niet afschrikken en boek het direct:)

Onvergetelijk verblijf!

Een werkelijk fantastische locatie en perfecte uitvalsbasis in de buurt van Munduk. Vanuit hier kun je met een super goede scooter die voor je geregeld wordt de fantastische omgeving verkennen! We hadden met z’n 2en een geweldige 6 persoons villa in oud koloniale stijl met het zwembad voor de deur. De tuin was met zijn ongekende diversiteit aan bloemen en planten echt een parel om in te verblijven. Speciale dankbaarheid en warme groet aan onze fantastische butler Sudi die ons op geweldig lieve wijze in de watten heeft gelegd!! 🙏 Kortom, een absolute aanrader als je een perfecte uitvalsbasis zoekt in het noorden van Bali!

Niets is te veel gevraagd

Een ontzettend fijne tijd gehad. Personeel ontzettend netjes en vriendelijk. De kamer en de eettafel hadden een fantastisch uitzicht. Schoon en goed zwembad. Beveiliging is top, je hoeft je hier echt nergens zorgen om te maken. Niks is te veel gevraagd. Nadat ons zoontje zijn Switch was vergeten hebben ze top met ons meegedacht en geholpen aan de oplossing. Geen enkel slecht woord over dit verblijf. We hadden hier makkelijk nog een aantal dagen kunnen blijven.

Een waar paradijs waarin je volledig tot rust komt.

Zeer ruim verblijf met meerdere slaapkamers, grote veranda, verschillende zithoeken, eetkamer, keuken, enz. enz. met heel veel details (bijv. houtsnijwerk) en kunstwerken. Helemaal af! Daarbij een eigen butler die ons verblijf nog comfortabeler heeft gemaakt. Uiterst vriendelijk personeel. Zeer goede planning van activiteitenprogramma waarbij werkelijk alles voor je geregeld wordt. Daarnaast zeer mooi aangelegde tuin. Kleinschalig retreat met gezamenlijk zwembad. Het zwembad middenin de prachtig aangelegde tuin is van alle gemakken voorzien.

Gunung Paradis moet je boeken als je in de buurt een accomodatie zoekt!

Wauw, wauw, wauw! Gunung Paradis heeft onze verwachtingen meer dan overtroffen. Bij aankomst stond butler Sudi ons op te wachten aan onze kamer. Tijdens ons verblijf van 3 dagen (2 nachten) konden we altijd op Sudi rekenen! Hij was zo attent en behulpzaam. De deluxe-bungalow was een pareltje in dit resort: eten dat je wordt geserveerd op het terras aan je bungalow, omgeven daar een prachtige vijver, volledige keuken, salon, 2 uitgebreide badkamers met prachtige buitendouches, en heerlijke slaapkamers (met heel goede bedden). Wat kan je meer verwachten van je vakantie... Bovendien was de kokkin zich zeer bewust van wat ze kon koken voor onze dochter die glutenvrij moet eten en toverde ze voor iedereen de heerlijkste maaltijden. Het zwembad is ook een pluspunt: gelegen in de prachtige tuin, kom je zeker tot rust in/aan het zwembad. We ontmoetten eigenaars Karin en Jack, en we begrijpen nu ook perfect hoe Gunung Paradis Retreat deze kwaliteit kan bieden: Karin en Jack zijn heel vriendelijk, attent, gaan heel respectvol met hun gasten én personeel om. Ze hebben een mooie kijk op het leven. Prijs/kwaliteit was zeker een pluspunt. We zouden hier dus zo opnieuw boeken en Gunung Paradis ook iedereen aanraden.

Geweldig huis met geweldig personeel!

Het huis is echt waanzinnig en je hebt een eigen butler wat zo genieten is! Heerlijk ontbijt en rijsttafel. Super vriendelijk personeel. Geweldig uitzicht. Dikke plus ook dat je water uit de kraan kan drinken.

Prachtig, heerlijk verblijf!

Het is echt een paradijs. Wat een fijne plek. Het uitzicht is prachtig, in het huis voel je je gelijk thuis. Heerlijk zwembad. Als je wilt kun je een massage boeken en een hele speciale palm reading en energy healing. Onze butler Sudi was heel erg aardig en behulpzaam voor ons en de kinderen. Elke avond werd er voor ons gekookt. Heerlijk! We zaten hier een week, maar we hadden nog veel langer willen blijven.

Eigenlijk niets. Houd er rekening mee dat je in de prachtige natuur zit en de natuur brengt dieren met zich mee. Denk aan gekko's, wespen, muggen etc. Wij vonden het niet erg. Dat hoort erbij.

Un petit paradis sur terre, mais quelques améliorations à prévoir.

On a aimé le calme de la propriété, le jardin luxuriant et la vue sur les montagnes. On a beaucoup apprécié Bobi, notre majordome durant notre séjour. Widi le manager a été de très bon conseil pour les sorties et a parfaitement géré les drivers.

-On n'a pas aimé la cuisine (petit déjeuner, déjeuner, dîner). Je pense qu'il faut envisager de changer de chef cuisinier. -Sur 4 douches, je n'en ai eu qu'1 chaude. -A notre départ on nous a mis à la porte avant l'heure limite du check out pour faire le ménage dans la chambre pcq les clients suivants arrivaient avant l'heure minimum du check in : j'ai trouvé ça particulièrement inacceptable.

Personalet vi møtte var vennlig, og kommunikasjonen i forkant av oppholdet var ryddig.

Villaen svarte ikke til forventningene. Den var mørk og overgrodd, bassenget var skittent og virket dårlig vedlikeholdt. Stueområdet manglet aircondition, noe som ikke ble oppgitt i annonsen, og stedet fremsto som lite egnet for småbarnsfamilier. Det var heller ingen åpen restaurant – man måtte bestille mat via en kokk som ikke var til stede da vi ankom. Maten vi til slutt fikk var dessverre ikke god. Utsikten som ble vist i annonsen samsvarte heller ikke med virkeligheten.
