Really nice building with cosy atmosphere, friendly & accommodating staff and very clean. Great views of Loch Long from the dining room. Breakfast & dinner were all good.
Lack of soundproofing in the rooms unfortunately, very firm beds and thin pillows. Dinner menu not hugely accommodating for vegetarians with only 1 option.

Beautiful building - wonderful food and nice location . Staff were wonderful and friendly . Room was gorgeous warm and comfy .
New Year’s Eve dinner was expensive £85 plus service charge each on top of the hotel stay . We were disappointed that the singer didn’t play upbeat music even after midnight so no dancing and no bagpipes no fireworks even though we were small in number we felt that towards midnight we could have been told to go into the main restaurant and maybe some bagpipes and countdown to the new year . It wasn’t really any different to any other evening . My husband who is Norwegian was very disappointed that Scottish new year didn’t seem that special . Talking to other customers they felt the same .
I felt although the food was superb the actual New Year’s Eve magic was lost

fantastic location, staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was great too.
It’s a big old building, so heating it may be a challenge but it was cold in the restaurant and bar area and the small wood burners weren’t heating it sufficiently. This was also the case in the room as there was no ability to control the heating for guests.

Service was absolutely amazing, both at the reception and breakfast. Room was comfortable and clean, bed was really comfy. The breakfast was good, it was nice that you could order from the menu. The view was gorgeus.
The room got really moist and you couldn't open the window to let any moisture out. Therefore it took e.g. forever for towels to get dry..

Staff were very attentive. We had an issue with the television, which was sorted very quickly. Nice breakfast with plenty of choice.
A couple of small things. We ordered red wine for dinner, but it was served chilled, which ruined its taste somewhat. Also, the bread served with the camembert cheese was so brittle that you could break your teeth on it. My mum ordered the duck, but it came with virtually no potato. Was expecting a bit more from a somewhat expensive menu.
We found a dirty palette knife down the side of one of the chairs in our room.

Location. Staff where professional and friendly. Loved it!
Entrance to Bedrooms via dining area. A few more options on dinner menu if staying longer.

The location and staff were exceptional. The food at breakfast and dinner was substantial and delicious.
The bed was a little soft, and the shower temperature a little temperamental.

Dinner and breakfast was very good.
Room was clean and reasonably appointed. Views good - beautiful scenery.
The evening meal was very good and so was the breakfast.
Staff were very helpful.
The bed was smaller than we would have liked.
Furniture in the restaurant was quite basic.

We were charged service every time an order was put through, so when the food went through we were charged 10% on top, when our drink order went through another 10% on top. We were charged service 7 times over one meal. The rooms were old and dated, the photos on their website and on booking.com do not resemble the hotel nor the food or breakfast you are served. Would not stay here absolute waste of money.

We had an unexpected treat while walking on the shoreline.. 2 dolphins came to say hello!!

Room was spacious with excellent view. Journey from Glasgow was much quicker than I expected (roads were mainly wider than I expected)
Breakfast was average but the waiter served up a nice sausage for our dog

Nothing. It was perfect.

I don't know if we've ever experienced a more friendly or attentive staff!
The food was beyond amazing for both breakfast and dinner! We felt very
Pampered! Our only complaint is that the walls are a little thin. We were in
Room 9 and we could easily hear our neighbor. They also came in at
2 am and made lots of noise for about 10 minutes. Including letting the doors
Bang shut. This is not the hosts fault. We just had noisy neighbors!
We hope to stay again!

Fantastic location
The mattress in our room was completely broken (the springs had gone) which resulted in virtually no sleep for the both of us.
We had to check out as there was no room to swap us into for our 2nd night. This meant we had to spend time and money searching for alternative accommodation. This and no sleep, spoilt the final day of our holiday.
So far despite asking, no type of compensation has been forthcoming from Knockderry.

Beautiful location, quite accessible from main roads.
Helpful front-of-house staff, but very short-staffed.
The doggy room and bathroom (16) were modern and pleasant, but no view.
The menu, cooking, and quality of the food are superb! The food is very well cooked, totally representative of local cuisine, and beautifully presented. There is a reasonable wine list.
Very dog friendly.
The public areas were not cleaned regularly, and it showed. The bar and restaurant closed too early for us. An honesty bar for later would be a good idea, and maybe a snack menu available for a longer time.
Towels weren't replaced until requested, and the room wasn't vacuumed daily.

Clean, comfortable and nicely decorated room with enough space.
Beautiful breakfast, lovely staff, beautiful country decor with gorgeous loch views.
Nothing as such, however, it would have been nice to have a smart tv to watch prime/Netflix etc.

My room was incredibly spacious and grand, and the staff were welcoming and kind. Everything felt clean, and they provided all the amenities needed to help you unwind—including an extremely comfortable robe to slip into after soaking in their amazing tub!
The housekeepers did a wonderful job tidying the room and even left extra cookies to enjoy with my tea. Both breakfast and dinner are available. My breakfast was included with the stay—the coffee was excellent! They offer a continental spread along with a choice of something hot from the menu.
It’s a beautiful retreat located right next to the loch. I would definitely stay again!

Beautiful house and location.
The staff were amazing and friendly but they could do with adding one or 2 more staff to the payroll.

Location of the hotel is an absolute dream. Beautiful, calm and charming. Booked a room with kingsize bed, which was spacious and clean. Breakfast and dinner were really goods Service is incredible, which beside of the location is the asset of the hotel :)
Overall some furniture and the inside of the hotel need some updates, but has its own charm and everything worked convenient.

Fantastic historical property, looks and feels like a “mini castle”. Super friendly and helpful staff. Amazing surroundings and views of the lake.
Quite a remote location but it adds its own appeal.

The property is old and there were signs on neglect , investment is needed but it is apparently closing at the end of the season

The house is in a beautiful location overlooking Lock Long. Very friendly and helpful staff especially with our two noisy pups. The food is exceptional. We ate in the restaurant both nights.
We stayed in room 16 which was lovely and big and looked newly decorated. However there was a strong sewage smell from the bathroom and scaffolding up with old roofing tiles outside the window. There are double doors from the back of the room down a very rusty and slippy iron stairs down to a private patio area that had bags full of abandoned black bags of leaves and old shears.

We were so lucky to stay here. They upgraded us to an amazing room - room 2. It had the most incredible view of the Loch, a 4 poster bed and a turreted bathroom. All staff were professional and friendly especially Laura. Food was good. We had dinner and a great breakfast. The hotel has a more intimate, less corporate feel.
The bath needs to be put on a plinth in order to see the loch whilst bathing

Very clean but the history and nostalgia made it memorable. Evening dinner was great as was breakfast!
Our room has a leaking toilet tap so the dripping sound kept us awake.

Lovely period property with a stunning view of the loch. The room was comfortable with plentiful tea and coffee.
Severely understaffed hotel. We paid £250 for a room and were expecting luxury, or at least some form of relaxation.
Staff were run off their feet (I think there were only 2 front of house staff for the whole hotel), we couldn’t get tea/coffee at breakfast as the waiting staff kept forgetting, dinner was average, felt very much like we shouldn’t bother the staff as they seemed under pressure from every direction. There was only one towel in the bathroom and no iron.
I would have paid £100 for the room and been content with the level of service. Very disappointing.

The location was stunning and the staff were fantastic.
I love the old country house hotel ambiance but I think it could do with some very minor updates - but this is me being picky.
