Hotel Regina

The hotel lived up to the price level: the room was nothing special but still cozy, there was nothing to complain about the cleanliness, the location was good, within a pleasant walking distance from the Peleș castle and the Pelișor Castle. Breakfast was served at the table (a plate with sandwich ingredients, cheeses, fried egg, etc., in addition to that, there were tea, coffee, milk, and a selection of breakfast cereals).

The walls are not very soundproof, you can hear quite well into the adjacent rooms.

We had a decently sized room with a large balcony partially overlooking the mountains nearby and the bed and pillows were comfortable, with fresh linen as well. The room also had a minifridge. The hotel's location is definitely a plus, with the alley towards Peles Castle only 2 minutes away and Sinaia's 1912 historic Casino building and park 5 minutes away; the city's downtown and railway station are also within walking distance; there are several bus stations nearby in case you'd like to reach faster the cable station/Gondola going up the mountain. The breakfast options included a lot of freshly made traditional Romanian foods such as aubergine salad, fish roe spread, de boeuf salad and various pickled vegetables so if you're visiting from another country, it could be an interesting choice.

The overall feel of the hotel is a bit dated with some furniture pieces that would really need to be changed, such as the closet in our room which smelled old and looked battered. We only had one pair of slippers available, even though the room was a double. One of the towels in the bathroom had an awful smell, as if it hadn't been washed or hadn't been washed properly. The shower cabin was quite small so a bit impractical and uncomfortable. There was a lot of noise in the hallway at 10 p. m. because of other visitors who had left their children to run around unsupervised but the hotel staff was completely unbothered so we had to intervene ourselves and the person next door.

Location is good, the staff is friendly, they have good food at the restaurant and not to expensive. The beds are confortable and the room was cleaned and well heated. Overall I recommend it.

The smell in the room was terrible (from the bathroom).

The location and rooms themselves were nice with a pleasant view. The breakfast wasn't too bad either.

The staff was rather rude and relatively misinformed regarding the booking. Didn't want to recognize the booking made on the website and wanted to overcharge claiming Booking doesn't have a direct contract with them. Had to contact support to fix the misunderstanding. Quite pricy for the overall experience.
