Family Hotel Casa del Mare

The view is the star of the show, and for good reason! The room was large and comfortable, and the hotel is located near the centre of the old town, close to many restaurants, shops and cafés. Everyone we met from the staff was very helpful.

The shower was not enclosed, so you would get the entire bathroom floor wet. Warning for anyone with mobility issues, the hotel has many stairs, though there are some rooms with street level access. The room was facing the bay, so we could hear the noise from restaurants and parties from across the water until late.

Amazing location! Huge room, comfy bed, and it was nice having a shower screen (most other places we stayed just had a wet room). The photos don't do the room justice. It was a very clean and luxurious room. The front of house staff member was nice.

The listing advertised there is on-site parking, which is not true - it's just a couple of street parks that you have to reserve and pay for. Luckily, we found parking just across the road for free. A couple of lights didn't work in our room, one being the light in the shower. A next door window looked down into our bathroom - I'm sure if someone wanted to, they could have seen us on the toilet. Also, when our neighbours opened their windows above their toilet, we could see right into their bathroom from our balcony. We didn't spend much time out there and kept our curtains closed. We were offered a kettle when we arrived, which I accepted, but then found no cups or tea and coffee to make a drink. The TV was tiny and outdated, so we couldn't connect to it or find anything in English. Normally, this wouldn't worry me, but I hadn't been feeling well, so laying in bed and watching some TV would have been some nice downtime. The most disappointing thing was the noise. The rooms aren't soundproof at all. We could hear every slamming door in the hall, everyone walking up and down the stairs, and coming home at midnight, and all the people walking past on the street - our room was at street level so people could stop and talk to us through the window if they wanted to - and we could hear them without opening the window! Luckily, we had earplugs. The restaurant downstairs was expensive, and I felt not worth the price. My husband enjoyed his meals. The female employees were all professional and friendly. We found the male employees rude and like we were an inconvenience. One employee ate the leftovers off my plate he was clearing... I don't care what you do with the leftovers (I'm glad it didn't go to waste), but maybe wait until you're back in the kitchen. This was the most expensive stop on our trip, so we did expect a bit more.

We wanted to leave the hotel early in the morning and the door to exit the hotel was locked! Had to wait one hour as the person in charge came late and when we told him that this is dangerous, as anything could happen and guests cannot exit the hotel, he said that he knows this but there is something wrong with the door and many times it locks from inside! We called all numbers but no reply from management. Completely insane!
