We spent a few truly wonderful days at Mas Masaller. ❤️ It’s a beautiful, peaceful place with a very special atmosphere, where we felt comfortable and at home from the very beginning. Joan is such a warm and welcoming host. Always smiling, helpful and easy-going – he really makes Mas Masaller feel like home. The food was another highlight! The breakfasts were delicious, and the dinner prepared by Joan is definitely something we will remember. Everything was homemade, local and absolutely delicious. It’s also a perfect place for exploring the Costa Brava and the beautiful little towns and villages nearby, while still being able to come back to peace and quiet in the evening. We left Mas Masaller with so many lovely memories and were a little sad that our stay went by so quickly. 😊 Thank you, Joan, for your wonderful hospitality and for making us feel so welcome. We hope to come back one day! ❤️

Un lugar idílico perfecto para el turismo rural y la desconexión total del entorno urbano con un anfitrión que consigue que te sientas como en casa y te trasmite en cada frase la pasión por su tierra. Nos ayudó a afrontar cada día ofreciendo un montón de preciosas opciones en el entorno del alojamiento. Repetiremos seguro.

It was quiet, the room was airy and the bed comfortable. The house was a refurbished farm house, quite old with some interesting features and a couple of grandfather clocks. The floor was cobbled stones and very uneven to walk on. The pool was good. There was a lovely playhouse inside the house for the kids and a rather rickety old swing in the garden.There were 4 rescue dogs living outside. There was a goat farm outside with a herd of beautiful black goats. A shop in the house next door sold goat cheese, yoghourt and other organic produce and wines, the woman who owned it had tables outside where we could eat salamies, cheese and drink her local wine and look at the goats at sunset. The dinner we had in the hotel was good, everything was freshly cooked. It had to be ordered in the morning at breakfast so if you arrive later in the day you would need to order ahead. There is not much else locally unless you drive for 20-30 minutes.

The host was not very welcoming or forthcoming about how he ran things so we had to find out gradually. He was only around when cooking to ask questions. For example, we did not know what was on offer for breakfast other than what was laid out, ie muffins & fruit until we saw what other guests were eating, he did not speak to us to offer anything. Dinner was at 9pm so if you had children needing to eat earlier it was necessary to get them food from the supermarket in the village. The host seemed not to be happy about us doing that and there was no fridge to keep anything cold, with the exception of a tiny one in the dining area from which one could buy water and beer.
