Olympos Archipelagos

The terrace is the heart of this place, with mountains on one side and the sea on the other, and sunsets that turn the sky gold and deep orange. We lost more than one evening just watching the light change. The rooms have real character and feel authentic rather than generic, the bathrooms were spotlessly clean. Olympos itself is a village steeped in centuries of history, and it's wonderfully peaceful, with quiet mornings, mountain air and the sound of the sea in the distance. If you're after views, calm and charm, this is hard to beat. Highly recommended.

The amenities are a little worn in places, noisy bathroom fan, but that only adds to the character.

We were blown away when we arrived for our Olympos adventure! Not only did we think we booked the best accommodation for front row seats to the most AMAZING sun set into the ocean we were also walking distance to Olympos village for shopping and dining. Our host Mano was very welcoming and accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay special. Our apartment was more than comfortable, very clean and the views from our windows were stunning. The massive balcony allowed you to relax and soak up the amazing mountain and sea views. Thank you for such a fun and memorable stay.

Some maintenance required

Access to the location is via a dirt road, which gets worse as you leave the main road, up to a point where it gets quite rocky and uphill. This is not a problem if you have a very high car, a 4x4 or a car you don´t care about. But, if you are using a regular, rented car, it´s a different story, specially when rental agreements in Karpathos island specify that you will only drive on asphalt (and I guess they make you sign that for a reason). Should you face any problem, it can cost you a good few hundreds of euros, if not more. The property should be crystal clear about the type of motor access, not just a "rent a good car because roads are not easy" (when 85% of the places can be accessed with a normal car). Same thing, clarity, should apply in regards to the access by foot to the village or the alternative parking (that we used the following days after arrival): if you have small kids, or someone of age or anyone with some kind of knee or similar injury, you may not be able to access the center of the village (which can leave you stranded in the property). Upon check out, the host kindly took our luggage with her 4x4 to the alternative parking area above in the village. Neither of the 2 bathrooms had a shower curtain or screen, which made the floors a total mess.
