A convenient stay.

Right next to the train station, which was very convenient both for Winterthur sightseeing and also for going in and out of town by train. The room was quiet, could not hear the train. Friendly staff.

Really well located next to the train station. Reception welcoming and rooms clean and well equipped. Breakfast was included and the coffee was good.

I didn’t spot there was overnight maintenance at the station on booking but actually it didn’t disturb us at all.

Absolutely amazing location, good for railfans and travelers by train.

It's very clean. The beds are very comfortable. I had a really nice view of the train station, so I relaxed before bed by watching the trains go by. For people who don't enjoy hearing the trains go by, the window holds the sound well and the AC works well, so you don't have to leave the window open. It's very accessible to Zurich (>30 minutes to the main station) and other places thanks to the excellent SBB train services. Check in after reception hours is also easy. In my room there was also one Schuko (type F) outlet along with the swiss ones (which do fit two pronged europlugs). So fitting high power EU electronics should be fine, there was also a note about adapters being available at the reception for a deposit. I plan on staying again sometime in the future.

I couldn't connect to the WiFi with my name and room number, didn't bother to clear it with the reception as I was staying just one night and used the temporary SMS login method.

All in all we had a very nice time at the hotel, and will not hesitate to use this hotel again.

We have stayed at this hotel four times over the past year and it has never disappointed us. Its location is so central - right on top of everything. On this occasion our room overlooked the railway station which was not a problem. When we closed the window we did not hear a sound from the station - it was amazing. The breakfast room is located at the rear of the hotel overlooking the garden, so you have a pleasant outlook while eating your breakfast. There is a wide choice of food available, so there is something for everyone.

On the bathroom ceiling, above the bath there was a yellow stain caused by a water leak at some point. Although it looked unsightly it wasn't causing a problem. It's something that could easily be remedied and I will bring it to their attention.

Perfect for families

Great, very spacious family room! As a family travelling with 2 older children, family rooms with bunk beds are fantastic. Our family room has a small balcony and was directly opposite Winterhur station. Breakfast was included in our stay which was breads, pastries, cold meats etc.

Parking was a little on the expensive side - €35 reduced to €30 for hotel guests, but then again, fully appreciate the location dictates this, not the hotel.

Kindness at the check-in and at the breakfast were missing. The hotel has on the back a beautiful garden to seat for breakfast, unfortunately was not cleaned and prepared to enjoy the beautiful weather.

Comfy beds and good base

Very comfy beds and large room and good breakfast selection that was regularly topped up. 1 minute from station Check in wasn’t until 3 but we were able to leave our luggage for a few hours on day of check in

The shower cubicle was poorly designed with a gap underneath meaning the bathroom floor quickly flooded if you weren’t careful - meant had to keep turning water on/off.

Hotel am Bahnhof

Perfect location next to the station and city centre. That was super easy. Ladies at reception were very friendly and willing to help. Bad thing is that reception closes very early, but this is known and hence all is OK as you can enter and go without issues. Although I did not use this, check-in is possible even outside front desk hours as they prepare your key. So just to know, but all is perfectly arranged. The room had a European plug so that was convenient. Still hotel also lent me an adapter. AC worked fine and silently (and it was a really hot day). Breakfast is not a full buffet but restricted choices, but as I was only there for 2 nights it was good (fresh fruits, fresh orange juice, cheese, meat cuts, marmalade, different breads, eggs, yogurt etc) Room was very spacious

Bed was not super comfortable for me (not hard enough plastic cover on the mattress, horrible pillows - I'm used to ergonomic pillows). Carpet on the floor

Beautiful value little stay!!!

Super handy right in the centre and next to the train, very clean and functional and spacious. Plenty of tea bags, loo roll etc. no fuss! Breakfast was simple but enough variety of fresh and not and all sorts to choose.

I could have had a thicker towel and a fridge. Nothing to complain about really!

Ideal Hotel for City Trip to Winterthur and/or Zurich

Hotel Wartmann is ideally located right by Winterthur's main station and the old town. In spite of the central location, it is very quiet at night. We are actually locals to Winterthur and only stayed a night here while moving house, but we were pleasantly surprised by the hotel and the value it provides - we would recommend the place to any visitors, particularly to those who would also like to visit Zurich: thanks to the proximity to Winterthur main station you would be within twenty minutes in downtown Zurich and could easily do many other outings in the region by public transport. The room was spacious and comfortable. It had all amenities as advertised and it provided a good work environment as well. The bathroom was likewise modern and offered more than enough room for two. Finally, the breakfast was likewise very good, with plenty of choices.

The hotel is located right next to the train station. The bedroom was a good size with comfortable beds and soundproofed windows. The breakfast buffet has a good selection of food, hot and cold, and fruit and yoghurt.

There was a selection of pillows, but they were all very soft. Would like a firmer pillow.

A most enjoyable city centre stay

We pre-arranged to arrive after midnight. The hotel is opposite the rail station and access via keypad easy and secure. They had upgraded us to a quiet (garden facing) room which was very comfortable and much appreciated as were very tired after a delayed flight to Zurich and late arrival by train in Winterthur. In the morning we enjoyed a really excellent breakfast after which we were able to do a quick tour of the old town before collecting our bags and getting back on the train to our next destination.

A nice hotel in a very convenient location at a reasonable price

This hotel is really just outside Winterthur train station, literally a few minutes walk from the train bringing us there. For us the location was perfect to see a bit of central Winterthur and then on the next day have a wide choice of trains which bring you as fast to Zürich airport as a train or S-Bahn from Zürich central station – less than 20 minutes ride. The room was nice and cheerful, looking out towards the train station so one had the sound of that when one opened the windows, but for us this was no issue. If you are more sensitive there are rooms overlooking a green shared courtyard. The staff were very friendly and helpful. With more time we might have borrowed some of the multiple pairs of e-bikes they had. Leaving our luggage after checkout until we took the train was no trouble at all. For Swiss standards the price was very reasonable, especially since it included a decent buffet breakfast. We will definitely consider this option again for flights from Zürich airport.

As a minor criticism we would have liked a bit more pressure from the shower and it was hard not to set part of the bathroom under water while showering (gap between panel and bathtub).

My sister and I were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the service and facilities at Hotel Wartmann am Bahnhof. The lady at reception was friendly and really helpful, and the location of the hotel is absolutely perfect. Breakfast was very good, with a wide variety of food, and the coffee was superb.
