Warm and welcoming bolt hole

Breakfast was excellent and the room used for that was beautiful. The place is a warren of corridors and secret side doors, so pay attention when walked to your room so you do not get lost!

a treat of a stay

The staff were lovely and smiley. The food was wonderful. There's lovely walks straight from the hotel. Great that it's dog friendly but not required for us.

We would have preferred feather pillows but we know this is not the norm for a hotel.

Good value, friendly hotel with good food and a great place to walk your dog.

This is our fifth stay here. It is good value, friendly and well located on the edge of Dartmoor. The food is good, especially the scones if you have a cream tea. It’s a great dog friendly hotel.

Our room was too hot this time, but I’m sure I could have worked out how to turn the heating down if I had taken the time.

Great food , great service, and perfectly positioned if you are en route from Wales to Cornwall.

The meal was exceptional. You could tell it was a popular place to dine, not just for residents but local people, as every table was taken in the restaurant. It's also perfectly positioned halfway from our place to Cornwall.

Magical location! Close to stunning woodland and river walks. Immense care and attention to interior decor that reflected the landscape and history of its beautiful surroundings. Quite frankly, I just didn’t want to leave!

If I had any niggles then it would just be that the fires weren’t ready for lighting and I’d love to think that on my return next autumn, I can cozy up for a tipple and more of the delicious food on the menu by the fire.

It was my second trip to Mill End with my two dogs. The staff and ambiance at Mill End always make it feel like a calm and relaxed stay.

The staff were all very friendly, no problems. The food was excellent.

Found the bedroom too hot the first night, but solved problem by keeping the door to the bathroom, with its heated towel rail, closed.

A beautiful, characterful property perfectly located for walks and relaxing in.

A lovely property located in a peaceful area within a walk cross country to the local town. Perfectly located for our trips to Fernworthy reservoir and Castle Drogo. Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome and we left with a complimentary bag of ‘goodies’. The waitress service breakfast was excellent and offered a great choice of cooked food and continental choices.

The shower cubicle in the standard double was compact.

Ok for a 1-night stay, but overpriced and we had much higher expectations.

Location, perfect place to explore area without having to drive anywhere.

The hotel is rather dated. We booked it mainly due to the fact, that it was meant to have an air conditioning and we were expecting a hot weather. Food in a restaurant was overpriced. Children’s menu wasn’t clear in terms of choices. We approached 2 different staff members enquiring about what 2 items was our daughter allowed to choose as a part of 2 course menu. None of them knew and didn’t even try to find out. Ended up paying £15 for a small plate of pasta in tomato sauce and a piece of garlic bread. An extra bed in a room was an uncomfortable foldable bed with a very soft mattress our daughter did not want to sleep on. When we opened our bedroom window we were looking at building rubble and rubbish above the hotel main entry door. Bathroom window had no curtain so people walking around hotel can see you taking shower.
